I'll look into Tweak. Takedowns have never caused me grief in the past. It's bloody passwords and rar'd .exe files. I'd love to kill every single person who's ever uploaded either of those.

Your details should be fine with any major provider. I haven't had any issues with Newsdemon. They charge as and when they say they will, and they make cancelling very easy.

Newsdemon has EU servers too, similar retention and for some reason the payment provider for our region charges slightly less. Works out to around $8 or $9. Probably much less now as it locks to our currency and our exchange is crap.

Thanks all for the useful info. Got myself a trial account at tweaknews to give it a try, but I will have a look at the other suggested ones as well before committing to one.

Retention isn't that great. If you buy six months it works out to R47 a month, which is the option I would take. Newsdemon has a 200GB/month plan for $8, and it includes 50 SSL connections, 30GB online storage and a full freakin' VPN. That's R73. Three dollars more gets you an unlimited account. Better value if you use the VPN, but I'm loading the Tweak trial right now.

Could we maybe have a separate Thread for the News server stuff? - Everytime I want to check the Afrihost thread, its news server stuff :(

You don't check that often do you .........
but that is always a gripe " What is on topic What is off-topic.............." I have an uncapped account, is news servers on-topic or off topic, my connection is slow, OH I need a modem thread then maybe a dslam thread or should I goto the Stolen Copper Wire Thread! No, I have fibre at work although I am at home .............

While my comment might have been over-exaggerated - News server discussions seem to be the norm these days :)

There already is one.

It's one thing to discuss the performance of NNTP, but discussing how-tos really doesn't belong here guys.
 
So judging by the change in topic to NNTP, everyone is happy with Afrihost?

I have only heard good things now since MTN have ironed out all the network problems,

+1 to Afriman and the team!
 
So what gives that I cannot get past "Verifying password" ? I saw mention of something yesterday on FB, is it still not resolved or wtf?
 
I'm only on 32.5GB this month using my 4MB uncapped and my download shaping is 50% at the moment, yesterday it hit 75% once or twice, would that not suggest that the CPT IPC needs a bit of an upgrade?

I have to agree here. Really cannot complain so far for the last few days.

I did 85gigs on 2mb in CT( strand area) Did most of my gigs on the weekend though. 32 gigs on a 4mb? You should have been allowed at least 125 gigs minimum
