I've done 9GB on a 1Meg line this month and I'm shaped at 25% on download and 12.5% on P2P :/
We look at your usage over the past 30 days. Not necessarily in that particular month.

Sorry, just a question. How are these shaping policies implemented? Im on a 2Mbps uncapped account but on the clientzone i have the following message:
64.0GB DATA USED
Data Statistics
Data Used: 64.05 GB
Average Daily Usage: 3.05 GB
Average Monthly Usage: 2.07 GB

I was on 50%/50% this morning and the only thing i downloaded, were a few linux distro updates. Now im sitting at 25% and my distro updates are crawling at a staggering 5kbp/s. Just wondering if i need to cut back on downloads? Or is it pure luck on who gets what when IPC is stretched out...
Retention I don't know but I do know that 4 connections max or it moans like a stuffed pig!
We look at the past 30 days overall usage when we shape. We also shape from the heaviest users to the least. Not saying you should cut back on your downloads, may schedule them for off peak times.
Ok, then clearly im being robbed here....ive never exceeded 80gigs in the last 2 or 3 months. Yet im being shaped down to 25%....Yes i know perhaps the capped options would be more beneficial for me, but i prefer the peace of mind. Is there anyway i can check my monthly averages? Im pretty sure the most i've used was 80gigs, in which case i really don't see how Afrihost can legitimise in any form or many, shaping me on a 2Mbps when i havent reached 100gigs in the last 2 or 3 months.
...
PS. Better to private message us your details, might start getting some random emails otherwise.
Also better for you to remove his email address from your reply so that it'll matter if he does the same with his original post.![]()
When the network demand is high, we start shaping the heaviest users. If the network demand does not decrease sufficiently, we need to increase the number of accounts that need to be shaped.
So the longer the network demand stays high, the more accounts need to be shaped. Shaping is only applied for as long as network demand is high. As soon as network demand decreases, shaping starts to be removed. And removing of shaping is done in the reverse order, so low-end users are unshaped first.
What sort of peer2peer speeds do you guys get on the normal uncapped accounts?
I'm on a Openweb Gamers King account, and my speeds after hours are 100% (non existent throughout the day) but I might need some downloading potential throughout the day in the coming weeks.
(10mb line)
Advice?
So I took the 10mb Business uncapped yesterday after my post and 10 minutes later my dslam goes down, which according to Telkom can take weeks to fix.
Just paid for the rest of the month for nothing. Lekker.
You can claim double your money back btw. Its advertised on the Afrihost front page. 60 day double your money back. Unless Afrihost have hidden terms and conditions. There seems to be no transparency with ISP's anymore and its a sadening realization in South Africa :/.
Guys pleas answer.
I see alot of mweb people coming over to this account.
Is there really a much better connectivity and stuff here with the gaming and general usage?
Then again how is the newshost and torrent downloads?
I game and download alot so want low pings and max speeds.
Rest of the family loves facebook and youtube...
