hmmmm, everything has been great for awhile now all of a sudden

Test conducted on 27 May 2013 20:47
Download Speed: 732 kbps (91.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 495 kbps (61.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 167 ms

Ok upgraded back to 4mb again. Afriman can you please make sure ill still be on a packed business deal

Shaping: 18.8% DL / 6.25% P2P @ 100.34GB

Assuming that you are in the Cape, as that is the only IPC experiencing any shaping. Usage is peaking at the moment, and our shaper is in the process of slowly bring demand into optimum usage levels so that latencies are controlled. It may take a few minutes to recover. Unfortunately this will mean shaping on torrents and downloads for some, but real time services should remain at premium once usage stabilises.

Got some really fantastic news for Business DSL Clients!!!

This is only meant for release at 12 today, but I figured since I know many of you have moved over to Business DSL, I'd post a spoiler especially for MyBB.

Business DSL is now GUARANTEED unshaped 24/7! We're removing the Business Hours proviso, and we promise we'll NEVER shape any Business DSL bandwidth, under any circumstances.

A great time to think about moving over to Business DSL, especially if you've been burning through a few Turbocharge sessions a month!

;)

So ultimately R100 more each month equals no shaping on a 2mb line.

I find it incredibly ridiculous that an ISP Limits or is disadvantaged based on the number of USERS it has. If there is an INCREASE in users, then sure an increase is IPC is needed? Especially for an ISP of Afrihost's nature, if it notices that there is an increase in users and an increase in usage then measures need to taken. It seems afrihost deems it would rather cut back corners and screw us over these days.

Its obviously evident that Afrihost HAS the IPC to handle its current user base, by introduction of the completely unshaped Business lines. Im not saying that you need to completely unshape us, HOWEVER. There needs to be limitations to this shaping policy. I am perfectly happy with being shaped from 8 - 5. HOWEVER it is NOT ok to shape us on a Sunday morning or afternoon PURELY because the ISP is cutting corners.

Now im not ranting at Afriman, however it would be incredbily nice if this message would be passed onto the Project Managers and hopefully a response can be forthcoming from them. I sincerely hope this message will not be ignored again as is it so frequently is.

Hi guys I have not been on this forum for months now. I'm glad to see this ISP is still screwing over their subscribers. Actually I find it funny that people actually still sticking with them. Fool me once.....

I pity the Fool

Afrihost says that we should download torrents after midnight. We try to do that? This is what we get
Notice that in one window google tells the current time so no on can say I am faking anything. This is ridiculous and unfair. Afrihost gets one more month to change or else I'm gone

Any plans for more capacity in CPT?

Already been answered! No, because the max usage window is to small, please spread out your usage guys, those with account numbers 1 to 1000 can use use from midnight to 1 am those from 1000 to 2000 can use from from1 am to 2am. If you use outside of that period AND call from Cape Town expect DYNAMICALLY shaped IF the network is under pressure.

Which it seems happens quite often in the evenings...

Please drop me a PM with your username so I can check your shaping policy logs. I'm sure we can figure out why you're being shaped then, it should not be the case :(

Without giving too much detail, just want to let everyone know that dynamic shaping is applied to ACTIVE sessions. If you disconnect from your session, while being shaped, your profile is only amended once you reconnect and move data on the network. If you're connecting from an alternative account to check whether shaping is removed, particularly if you don't move data at all over a day or so, your profile may not show any changes.

If you're consistently connected, you should not experience shaping at 3 or 4am, but you'll need to actually be connected with your account at that time for the network to adjust your shaping policy.
