Well I just downloaded 2 gig at an average of 1010 kb per sec?

This is what I am getting, and it is really bad for my 4Meg line:

Test conducted on 6/27/2013 5:05:36 PM

Download Speed: 2114 kbps (264.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 407 kbps (50.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 452 ms

International well and truly borked here too... speedtest to random New York server:

*edit*

Seems to be improving...

Local seems fine, International is really bad (pretty much dead).

Hi Afrigirl, since 2 weeks ago when I had the line installed it has always synced at 10mbs down and 1mbs up. Am I suppose to only let it sync at 4mbs and if so how. I've posted my speed tests in a previous post from last night. Any ideas?

Ps. You guys are really great with your support and it is much appreciated.

No, the reply you got from that other person confused the hell out of me. IE: Your modem can sync at 10 meg and you use a 4 meg package. Your downloads will run at 4 meg not 10 meg. Um that is if your client zone says no shaping applied.

So, if I want to increase my 2 meg package to 4meg I must wait for the 1st?

Nope, we can process it for you as soon as possible :)
We may just need to wait a few days for the order to go through, but you can request an upgrade tonight.

My connection seems to drop completely at seemingly random times. Extremely frustrating when I'm trying to do some gaming because I keep getting disconnected.

Help?

Seems to be improving...

This is the issue I'm having. Local is great, awesome ping times, awesome downloads... but speedtests to international servers in the UK range from 0.05 to 0.3Mbps.

In otherwords, streaming Youtube and Twitch is greatly affected.

I switched over to Afrihost on Thursday from iBurst and while the overall quality is improved, my streaming is now practically dead. I could stream 360p on iBurst, can't do it Afrihost ADSL....

Will speak to their support guys again tonight.

Sorry to hear that. Doesn't seem to be a general problem on our side, please drop me a PM with your deets and we'll take a look at this :(

We've had a chat with our network engineers and from our test, international services are running perfectly, no issues that we can see. This is with additional traffic being diverted from Seacom based ISP's.

We're not sure if Google CDNs and DNS may be affected by Seacom, since the CDN in Durban is on Seacom (to our knowledge) with the other CDN sitting on our network in Cape Town.

Drop me a PM with your deets, let's get our guys stuck on on this :(

Almost the end of a truly terrible month of Afrihost uncapped internet. 83.1 gigs downloaded on a 2mb account. The only time shaping ( 25% http, 6.5 % p2p) ever left me was after midnight. Last month I downloaded almost 150gigs no problem. The only thing that works properly is YouTube. I hope next month is real '' Internet Joy''
