Could these problems be area specific? Some guys are on these forums saying: "I get a full 1Mpbs/4Mpbs". Other guys, like myself are saying: "I get 0.1Mbps on a Speedtest".

At least their support is really good and they do contact you back as soon as possible.

My call has been logged on Friday and I was promised resolution today, so we'll see what happens tonight when I get home... :)

There can definitely be area-specific factors as well as individual factors. If it's a local wireless network, there could be structural issues within the building or with number of users on the network. Then it's the quality of the cabling, the distance from the exchange, the amount of congestion on the exchange, the quality of the cable or fibre from the distribution point to the main exchange.

Afriman, my line is capable of 10mb. Had it syncing at 10mb for about 2 years or so until recently. It now syncs at 6.6 - 6.7mb.

If I move my line to Afrihost, can you guys make sure that I sync at 10mb again?

AfriGuy here :)
We can't promise anything I'm afraid, if you drop me a PM with your landline number I can take a look see what we can do for you though.

Thanks Afriguy :)

It all depends on why your line sync changed. If the copper in your area has degraded which has caused the issue, then it may be difficult to bring it back to 10Mbps. If you're syncing at 6.7, then you're not achieving the full profile rate, so it sounds like there is an issue on the cable or port card. If you're synced at 10Mbps but your throughput it 6.6 / 6.7 that is a different story.

But drop us a PM and we'll see what the case may be :)

Our guys are looking into this ASAP, and they'll contact you as soon as they have some feedback :(

Hi AfriMan, sorry about that, it was not directed towards you/Afrihost. I would normally have 4GB already due to my little girl watching toons on Netflix. :) I know you currently cant do anything regarding my Telkom line as it is still with Wazzup that is moving it to Telkom end July and thus moving to Afrihost. But MAN I must say you are great for trying to help me out, BIIIIIG +.

@Afriman/Afriguy/Afrirock :D

Can you guys remind Telkom of the ridiculous amount of congestion at the Telkom Exchange in Durbanville. Please I am so tired of Telkom, countless faxes, emails does that to one

With pleasure :)
Drop me a PM with your account details and I'll see what I can do.

Oh my soul they're multiplying :P Man, Guy and Girl... I've been off the forum too long, how many Afri-tonians are on the forum now? =D

The client zone now seems to default to the new beta version, how do I access the older version of the client zone?

There's a link on the botton right-ish of the screen :) Switch to Old Client Zone - that'll do the trick.

Okay, first tests done.

Came home at 4:30PM, did 5 back-to-back speed tests. Looks good, averaging out at 0.8Mbps. Happy so far!

Test Youtube streaming... hmmm, can't stream a 240p video... Not good

Okay, secound round of speedtests after 5PM (about 5:40PM). The same tests are averaging out at about 0.45Mbps.

Finally, a round of tests from speedtests on international servers? Choosing a random server in the UK, 5 tests (after 6PM) averaged out at: 0.09Mbps

So there's my problem. International is atrocious. Maybe compounded by over-saturated exchanges after hours? Is this problem Seacom or EASSY related? Or maybe since the switch to MTN Business as the backbone, international hasn't been too great? I don't know, I switched over very recently from iBurst over to Afrihost ADSL, and I gotta tell you people, on iBurst, I could at least stream 360p on a good day. Haven't been able to do this since the switch to Afrihost ADSL.

At least your support is good, so, just waiting for final feedback on my ticket.

My apologies, didn't read previous posts. Ignore my last post. Try visiting the client zone URL without /en/ after it or maybe its now out of beta and finalized?

If that doesn't work, sorry cant help :(
