Please drop me your usernames. From what I can see on our side, the network is actually not shaped much in the South, so it's not contention or capacity. Let me get your deets on PM and then I can look further into this :(

Check your inbox...Very frustrating this morning...Must say this past week I'm not happy, had much better speeds on my mweb account.
Just logged in with my standard 6GB Afrihost adsl account and speed jumped to 204kbps

Hi

I am also an Afrihost client, using a pre paid account. My speeds are terrible. It started yesterday.
I am getting like 10 to 20 k a sec downlowd speeds, where as I usually get 200 plus on my 2 MB line.

I also am aware that clients on MWEB are having the same issue.

Internet is crawling.

Whats going on here?

All good now, obviously was a temporary hiccup from the maintenance - restarted my router and now all is well :)

Thanks

It may be congestion on your local exchange, which would affect all ISPs routing through that exchange. Can you drop me a PM with a traceroute to a local and international server? Should show us if there is congestion.

Hey there AfriMan!

I just bundled my line with AfriHost. Was just wondering how long such a transfer normally takes, and how will the billing be handled from now on? Will I be billed by Telkom in August for only the voice line, and then pay the bundled price to AfriHost? How does this all work?

It can take up to 14 days for an active ADSL line to transfer to us. YOu don;t ever pay for the same service period twice, but note that Telkom bill in arrears (month end) and we bill in advance (for the month to come). But it all cancels out in the end. It just depends where in the billing cycle Telkom actually effect the transfer.

So basically, if I receive an invoice from you during the billing cycle for the full bundled amount, it means that Telkom won't bill me for the DSL line at the end of the month? (As I already pay it to AfriHost).
