Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

I upgraded my 1Mb Uncapped Bundle to 2MB uncapped bundle now! At R100 more for the double the speed? Eish!

I've had quite a good experience with my uncapped account as well, but sadly that clearly isn't true for everyone given all that's been said in this thread. It will be nice once they get everything 100% sorted.
 
Awesome. Now everyone can burn the already congested DSLAMS/exchanges a little bit harder. :(

i want to create a bundle, but i already have 4 meg uncapped with you. So when i click create bundle, it wants to pro-rata me for the uncapped 4 meg. Will it just pick up i already have a 4 meg uncapped account with you or will it create another one ?

also can you guys do anything about getting me upgraded to 10 meg? im at 6 meg, yet both my neighbours have 10 meg, but telkom says no ???

Yup me too please, if you can get me the amount before throttling and then the throttled speed and it's roughly 180gig/1meg then you'll be getting a new customer as soon as my cancellation goes through...

Mine (4mbps uncapped) has been back to normal for a few days now. So seems to have been sorted already. Hope this doesn't jinx it :)
 
I am contemplating moving over to an Afrihost uncapped account but am a bit worried. Currently on MWEB 4Mbit and can easily get 250-300Gb per month. Can I expect to get the same on an Afrihost 4 or 10 Mbit account. I currently have a 4GB unshaped per GB account with Afrihost which I planned on using for some work VPN stuff for worked. I recently tried running downloads on the account and it turned out to be completely useless, speeds were <100kb/s on a 10Mbit line using this supposedly unshaped per Gb account. On the same file and using my Mweb shaped uncapped account I managed to get 200kb/s just a few minutes later, during the day time. If I get this kind of performance on the unshaped per GB option, what is the uncapped like? The price is just so tempting...
 
i will see how the 4mb line performs and weighing it up against the 2mb line. if there is not that much difference then i might downgrade to 2meg.

Been very happy with my 4mb uncapped ADSL. Great speeds, very consistant and haven't experienced any shaping or throttling so far.
 
Anyone know how long it should take for a new Afrihost account to become active? I signed up about an hour ago but am yet to receive my connection details via Email like they said I would.

I suspect that the Afrihost servers are pretty inundated with new signups, but I sure hope that they don't only turn on new accounts during office-hours!
 
Is that DJ Fresh speaking on the Afrihost telephone line when you're waiting to get to a support operator?

I'm suffering a fate worse than death at the moment, downgraded my line from 4mb to 2mb and it dropped it to 384k which it's been on since this morning.. waiting to get knocked up to 2mb - i don't know how anyone can use 384k its awful
 
@StNick Not at all, for some reason our radius server is running a little slow. It should be sorted out now :)
