Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

We are reading through responses but you must also understand that many of the users who post also PM me and I deal with their queries directly. If you have something which you need some assistance on, the best way is to PM me, cos it's difficult to give specific answers in a public forum.

I'm quite happy for guys to post their results, that is the purpose of the forum, to get a general sense of performance and possible issues - but if you need a direct answer, please ask me a question - or send me a PM.

Thanks :)

Just an update:
My speed seems to be fine on my 2Mb uncapped account. Did a speedtest and a ftp test, both maxing out my line. Will check later today again.

Hi All

I have a 6 mbps line and am considering between afrihost 10mbps bundle or the afrihost 4 mbps business uncapped unshaped account
I understand that there is a throttle on the 4 mbps account of 100GB over 7 days and on the 10mbps bundel of 250 GB over 30 days
I'm a home user but I want quality internet, When I want to download a torrent I want it max speed anytime of the day any day
I've never exceded more than 200 GB a month so im not a super heavy user.

Is the business account worth it as I dont mind paying more

Thanks all

Well from reading here the speeds are really dependant on the areas,I know my 4meg maxxes when I pick something well seeded and my usage averages on 10-12gig per day

Don't know what you did today AfriMan, but whatever it was... don't touch a thing!

Best results today (for a workday) since the upgrade, 215kbps average on a 4G file, filezilla, on my 2 meg line. :)

I must confess, I have the same issue as the rest. On a AH capped account everything is crazy fast. As soon as I switch over to uncapped account i can just see the speed dropping. OH and forget about doing remote desktop logins & remote video surveillance on an uncapped account. As soon as I switch to the capped acc everything is perfect!

Anyone else having problems connecting to GMail? I have a 4meg Uncapped package from Afrihost, and my Gmail has been REALLY slow during the day for the last 7 days. Gmail is actually unusable during the day. It's definitely not my router or PC, if I switch over to my FNB Connect account it flies.

Something has suddenly gone seriously wrong in Cape Town again.
Notice my latency

Looks like higher latencies on some of the core routers again, routing problem?

just a question Afriman

does the cap packages of 50GB still exist when you get double the amount. i might change to cap as i don't download that much

My internet is unusable, can't even load a speed test and every other website takes forever to load .Afrihost and fnb connect.
Cape town

Those Cape Town core routers acting up oi vey

Sounds like you're all having IS woes, not Afrihost. Still holding thumbs for the MTN move.

Same here (CPT) on Afrihost / IS capped account - the latency is all over over the place.

What is going on Afriman?

PE is fine this time :)

Service is back to normal, I noticed that the core router at HOP 5 is different then the previous trace.
