Why do people still insist Afrihost is better just because they're cheaper?

I don't get it...

My line has been awesome since I signed up in June/July, barring one time when there were also network issues I consistently would get full line speed on most things and perfect YouTube streaming. This is the first time it has been this bad though and for so long.

10mbps Account. :(

Looking back at the past network notices and the lead times to correct them i would say we are sitting with more than a slow ADSL & latency issue on the network.

I don't recall many people claiming that Afrihost's services outshone any other ISP.

I'm with them for cost reasons (and on the assumption that these problems will be fixed), but I still tell people to go with Mweb if they want to pay for the best.

My line has likewise been awesome for the last two months, so I'm hoping that it'll soon return to the same service levels as I'm not a heavy user. They're obviously having problems with upstream providers atm.

The so-called inability to identify the source of the problem seems somewhat unlikely and one hopes that this is not a case of financial distress if performance is seemingly less than halved all of a sudden with no direct network failure identified?

Mweb seem to be having the same issue this week as well. So you would have been paying more yet have the same problem :)

I'm sure Afrihost was voted best ISP not so long ago if i remember correctly.

Oh really? I should go troll their thread then ;)

True.

Sorry, I was trying to say that that (in my opinion) there has never really been grounds to claim that the performance of Afrihosts' consumer uncapped is superior. Just by having a threshold counts them out and everyone is aware of IS's shortcomings.

Only after midnight yesterday did the speeds for me improve. DL speeds again very bad today.

I'm sure all ISP uncapped services have a threshold. Afrihost 250GB + threshold i would say is pretty decent, anything more than that is abuse in my opinion. That’s based on 4Mbps line, 10Mbps obviously being higher

Download Speed: 599 kbps (74.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

Sorry but if not resolved by 25th, cancelled.

It's times like these when I miss my OpenWeb Gold :( A problem like this on my account would have been sorted out within minutes.

From Openweb thread: "Daytime performance has been exceptionally poor on 4MB Gold IS this week. I'm talking HTTP, not NNTP or P2P"

This is something bigger than us, I suspect it will end up being the International links...
