I also lived in London for a while tonight. Now I'm back in SA.

Thanks but no thanks to MTN... Never had such issues with IS for month. :-(
Btw. Speed-test on http://capetown.spdtst.saix.net/ shows better ping, yet bad speeds as well:
Last Result:
Download Speed: 986 kbps (123.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 413 kbps (51.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 44 ms

Actually no.Afrihost you are killing your uncapped business model.
Afrihost you are killing your uncapped business model. Uncapped rely on a majority of light to moderate users to subsidize a minority of high usage customers. Your new shaping policy however is punishing everyone regardless of usage. I currently get full speed (3.2Mbit/s) on my Afrihost capped 1gig free account while I get about 0.8Mbit/s on my uncapped account on a 4Mb line.
I am sure a lot of users like myself would prefer the accounts to run the way they did on the IS network - to run at full speed regardless of what you are doing until you reach the fair usage limit and then to get throttled. This uncapped account of mine was perfect from May when I first got it until the switch-over to MTN. I cancelled my RedAfrica 150 gig @ R199 based on the performance I got from this account in May and June. I could _____ cry! The kind of shaping you are doing tonight will drive away light to moderate users to other ISPs while the heavy users who are happy to download and seed 24/7 at reduced speed will tend to stay.
Well I'm tired of this nonsense. I'm moving over to another ISP tomorrow morning. Afriman has been great in helping me and everyone on the forums, but unfortunately it looks like no one else at Afrihost seems to care (including Gian).
I think the worst part is that the is a lack of communication. If Afrihost sent out emails saying that they're having problems, and that they we should bare with them, then I would be more understanding. But I haven't heard anything from anyone (besides Afriman), so I going to assume that this is their new business model.
I think the only way you can get Afrihost to take some drastic action is take your money and internet needs elsewhere (as Prophet has bluntly pointed out).
Actually no.
Only when enough left then maybe this lesson would be learnt: Pretest, move over a few clients first and do not **** with your clients.
But you guys keep on supporting this model: Shoot from the hip, because all would be forgiven.
