Unfortunately I've had to cut ties. As much as I appreciate Afrihost trying to better their infrastructure, they have done so in a way which harms their users and even though they have admitted as much by looking to put in IPCs, nobody had had the balls to apologize for the bugger up. In a couple of months, more likely half a year, they could be stable again, but for the moment there are other ISPs offering the same packages, at the same prices, with the same services, at the same contention ratio.
For those who are concerned about stability, speed and latency, I've moved across onto a Openweb Budget Unshaped account. After trialing with Cybersmart, Web Africa and other Openweb options, this has proved to be the best value for money option.
I'm back to 180ms international ping and 17ms local ping. Speeds seem to come in at 3.9mpbs at 7pm on a 4mbps line. I've also tested on the Openweb Gold account, this gives me pretty much perfect speed and the latency max 5ms better.
Web Africa performs about the same, but the same priced option is on a prioritized line. Gaming, P2P and FTP never feature at a top priority.
