But these seem off ... my downloads have been faster than this, even now.

Thanks, was curious as to how they measure up to speedtest.net. Apparently they are more legit in terms of not being optimized.

P.s. Note in my photos how far I supposedly am from Midrand ;)

And I checked MS Windows 8 download ... it says "Sorry for youuuuuu"!!

Not necessarily ...

My current speedtest.net to Midrand shows this:

A test download I was doing (Standard HTTP port 80)

It's too variable though to say one is better than the other right now :P

Clearly there are also many clients getting good service. I know when you're affected it feels like something is totally buggered, but that's why we need to keep working on this to ensure that the experience gets spreat out further. In my honest experience, the amount of people having issues is slowly diminishing, capped accounts are now pretty much flying for most, and this is the last hurdle.

Sorry this now gets me slowly pissed off...! So you prioritize CAPPED accounts over UNCAPPED ? Does it occur to Afrihost that UNCAPPED users pay roughly more than double (and are happy to do so for good service. At least I am on my part...)? And isn't this the thread for Feedback on UNCAPPED Accounts?

I've so far downloaded 4Gig's this month, surely not too much to break your system? So you provide me with bad service for the fear of what I could do to hurt your business, rather than for what my usage is? Yet you took my money a couple of days ago for a service you promise (and provided in the past), but for which you knew you could no longer deliver?

Sorry but I don't get it. Too hard to implement fair use policy as it was under IS, accounts get slowed donw after hitting a certain amount of traffic? Define a number , 100 Gb, 200Gb, 500Gb whatever.... If we know, we can make an informed decission to leave or remain with Arfrihost...!

My current speed:

Download Speed: 998 kbps (124.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 406 kbps (50.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 94 ms

@AfriMan kindly please fix it asap!
Thank you.

Some blended traffic being generated in this test. Throttling is the correct term for what is being applied here around 1-1.2 mbps. Let's see whether Afriman responds.

My speed started with 100 Kb/s an after 3 minutes it jumps to 400 Kb/s then down to 130 Kb/s this is on 10 mb account
It is worst the yesterday
I don't think there know what there doing yesterday I getting 600 Kb/s
This is from pe

AfriMan, I have PM'd you ... I await your response to see what temporary solution you can give me.

Meh same **** tonight. **** this for a joke. Someone recommend a good ISP please.

Lol well at least 1Mb/s subscribers must be giving positive feedback since that's what everyone gets

Nope. I have a 1Mbps account with Afrihost which they want me to upgrade to 2Mbps, but I'm certainly not throwing even more money at Afrihost until they can actually deliver the 1Mbps I pay for.

Just going to quote myself from another thread. My response has been with high data capped accounts, but I am pretty certain that the same applies to uncapped:

Unfortunately I've had to cut ties. As much as I appreciate Afrihost trying to better their infrastructure, they have done so in a way which harms their users and even though they have admitted as much by looking to put in IPCs, nobody had had the balls to apologize for the bugger up. In a couple of months, more likely half a year, they could be stable again, but for the moment there are other ISPs offering the same packages, at the same prices, with the same services, at the same contention ratio.

For those who are concerned about stability, speed and latency, I've moved across onto a Openweb Budget Unshaped account. After trialing with Cybersmart, Web Africa and other Openweb options, this has proved to be the best value for money option.

I'm back to 180ms international ping and 17ms local ping. Speeds seem to come in at 3.9mpbs at 7pm on a 4mbps line. I've also tested on the Openweb Gold account, this gives me pretty much perfect speed and the latency max 5ms better.

Web Africa performs about the same, but the same priced option is on a prioritized line. Gaming, P2P and FTP never feature at a top priority.

Openweb?
Mweb?

I would not go with WebAfrica... Get trial accounts.

Was with WA and I moved to AH because I had this same crap with them so HELL NO!

Problem is price. I don't want to spend more than I am already. . . will check prices but I know mweb is more than AH for a 4MB uncapped.

I have seen no real improvement since Friday.

Luckily I have other accounts. For now. Will have to make a decision end of the month though, because I cannot do this for another month.
