Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

I'm with Axxess (Afrihost) as well. Have been having intermittent speed problems, but generally not that bad. Far from ideal though.

I am sure they didn't expect this much troubles with the change over, but still, that guarantee seems like a very bad idea indeed. I expect a bunch of double money back guarantees can add up to quite a few people's salaries....

Seriously...

This is getting ridiculous now. AfriHost is really starting to p**s me off. Normally I'm understanding, but this is getting way out of control now. If a problem like this persisted in the corporate I work for, people would be fired by now. Giaan, do something, PLEASE. Surely you are starting to see your numbers dwindle by now? I don't want to jump ship, because I'm sure you guys will get it sorted. Well, either that or you are watching your company fizzle out and maybe die.

Brand damage like this is HARD to fix.

Also, no feedback to customers is just simply NOT ok. Dedicate someone to keep the community abreast of what's happening. No promises, just what you are doing, what's the next steps, and a timeline of when things are going to be changed, etc. Few things are worse than being kept in the dark while a service you pay for is not working.

Hi Sazela.

I'd like to sincerely apologise for all the trouble.
We really do appreciate everyone's patience and we're working tirelessly to get all the problems resolved.

No excuses, Afriman has been off sick and we have all been invested in getting all the problems resolved and have not done enough to keep everyone updated.

I apologise to the community for this and will make sure we have more of a presence.

Update regarding disconnects:

I'm not 100% sure of the changes that were made this morning to resolve the problem but we're monitoring to make sure the fix was successful.

I keep getting disconnected from PSN while playing online. Very annoying.

Hi Jared176.

Sorry about the disconnects.

A fix has been applied and we're monitoring to make sure it's been successful.

We have been able to recreate the problem and are monitoring it closely.

Ehehehe and I just signed up less than a month ago

Hi Arksun.

We're really committed to offering the best service and acknowledge the recent troubles.

Our leadership team is super passionate about client satisfaction and will leave no stone unturned till all problems are resolved.

Hi KALSTER.

The truth is we were 100% confident that everything would go smooth.
We'd been running tests for some time and had dozens of rehearsals before we moved our big ADSL realms.

Since the move we've literally had little to no sleep at all as we work through all the known and newly reported problems.

Thanks for your understanding.

Even though there are problems i'm still glad i moved to afrihost from telkom, because at least they are dedicated and try hard to fix their problems, unlike *cough* telkom *cough* who just don't care.

from Pietermaritzburg all's been fairly stable except for the latency which still needs attention

In Cape Town, most ISP's now have around 165ms (IS) and before change over my average ingame was 168ms... presently on AH I am getting 209ms min all the way to 12000+

Unfortunately for me there is no IPC in Durban (IS), so the best ping I get on mybb international speedtest is around 206ish but it has been creeping up since the weekend - must be all the extra peeps dropping Afrihost. This morning its at 224! But at least the speed is there and its stable (I'm not a gamer (yet)):

Test conducted on 13 November 2012 07:08:55 AM
Download Speed: 3472 kbps (434 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 404 kbps (50.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 224 ms

There should be as we have the the country's 2nd largest population.

Logic doesn't prevail here - TIA - Hopefully things will change now that there is a DINX....I'm not holding my breath

Getting line speed on ssl nntp now.
Earlier, d3 was trouble free.

Based on testing I did, it does look like only speedtest is getting full throughput. Everything else is shaped. It is exactly like you said. Probably a move to try and keep noobs (like myself) thinking there is nothing wrong.
