I really miss the old IS setup. Things worked well back in the day..

Afrihost is being very helpful but unfortunately I don't have enough free time to troubleshoot their network. They are definitely trying though which is very odd as they flagged my account for shaping based on the massive amount of data downloaded (45GB). They are quite honest about why it is so slow yet they want to investigate and fix stuff. That would mean that the bandwidth be increased which is definitely not why accounts get shaped in the first place. Very confusing situation!

Now that I'm oficially an internet abuser I'll try to make the most of it till the account is de-activated at the end of the month

Do we really need to cancel before the 15th to avoid having to pay for another month or can we perhaps cancel just before the end of the month?

watsonm at afrihost support.
it is time to wake up.
your piss poor response just lost afrihost another customer

They are definitely trying though which is very odd as they flagged my account for shaping based on the massive amount of data downloaded (45GB).

What is normally considered a "massive amount"? Under normal circumstances, how much bandwidth is considered abuse by the average ISP? Just asking, because I'm trying to figure something out.

On the Afrihost website they say network is fully operational. If they consider 60kbps on a 2mb line as fully operational then I'm done. Cancellation sent, now just deciding between what Openweb account to get

I have a theory. Their site says the network is fully operational, thus everybody who is experiencing crappy speeds are flagged as abusers and are shaped.

I may sound like a ****-spouting idiot, but I think we should be able to test this. Perhaps if someone creates a thread where we all post our current usage along with the speed experienced?

getting decent speeds (4 meg) :) you dam abusers ;)

Same this side. I'm using the 10Mbps uncapped package and I've already downloaded 40GB this month.

.

Hope it stays that way, will be keeping an eye on it during the day tomorrow, else i'm signing up for the gold unshaped package from openweb!
