Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Well i was hoping the shaping would be relaxed a bit on the weekend. But its not. Stuck on 118kbps on 4 meg uncapped, no matter which port I use,

I guess if you want to download anything, Afrihost isn't for you.

@Afriman
A suggestion to Afrihost regarding the throttling/shaping of extreme users.
I have no objection to the policy but to help the users not guess or phone it please add a 30 day rolling window calculator to the stats page and the mobile apps.
Either openly indicate what the present cutoff threshold is or at least notify users when their account has been limited.

LOLOL Back to normal speeds again
4mb account... -+150kb/s
To good to be true. This means from 12:30am - 8:00am speeds are open than after that everything is throttling/shaping no matter what weekend or not day or nyt. So Afrihost's business hours are 8:00am - 12:30am - 7 days a week, leaving us to use the true speed for pay for, for 7h 30 mins. Which we can download +-12gb per day :D which is a ok.

10mb uncapped, Durban:

Left NZBs downloading last night.. got full speed from around 1am till they finished at 4am.

Woke up to find I've been throttled. Everything tops out (YouTube, speedtest.net, NNTP) at 250kBps (25% of my line speed). My usage for the month is 129gB. Surely that isnt considered 'high usage'?

@Afriman are you guys still working on it? What are the (new?) usage limits are for throttling? Isn't it supposed to be +- 400gB for 10mb uncapped?

Does anyone know a possible ETA on when Afrihost is going to stop throttling us.

I'm confused now, are the days of pulling 50GB a month over ?

That is correct.

@Afriman - Either openly indicate what the present cutoff threshold is or at least notify users when their account has been limited.

This will never happen. They will probably say something along the lines of "We can't disclose that information, because then people will target that threshold". I think the real reason is because the threshold is so low, that if people get the actual figure, they will realize that its not worth it and most will cancel their accounts.

My usage for the month is 129gB. Surely that isnt considered 'high usage'?

It is now.

Does anyone know a possible ETA on when Afrihost is going to stop throttling us.

Apparently we're looking at February, but one can only speculate.

I guess its time to be looking for another ISP. Does anyone have one in mind.

Mweb and Openweb seem to be good. You will pay more the equivalent packages though. I guess it's a case of you get what you pay.
