Well I'm not a heavy downloader and I was restricted to 40KB/s on a 4Mbps line today. What the hell is that? Surely you can't expect to throttle people that badly without consequences. If thats the sort of daytime speeds I can expect till feb, maybe march next year I'm out.

If that's what you're getting on a speedtest, it's not QoS, there is some other issue. Speedtest is a browsing (real time) service and should get priority - not that we prioritise speedtest to jip results.

Those kinds of speeds could be possible on torrents, but browsing and streaming should be running at best possible speeds.

Speedtest running at 2mbps for me on 10mbps account. Flat line, looks like throttling to me.

I just want to say that I said it was capacity related about 100 odd pages ago. That is all, we have finally got to the same conclusion. Now we can move forward at last.

Of course it is capacity related. Afrihost aren't throttling us all into the ground just because they think it is fun.
 
50 minutes to download 21MB. at 21:56. what the ****? I cant believe I'm going to be stuck with this **** for another goddamn month!!

I am having the same exact problem with slow international speeds and is it just Pietermaritzburg subscribers.
 
So after not using my Afrihost account for 3 days i gave it a little spin tonight. Got pings of 300 playing TF2 , downloads maxed out at 20kbps , torrents 10kbps and streaming 360p youtube was very choppy. Even opening up pages with a few pictures was incredibly slow. I feel like im using ISDN.

Got a link to that? I've been following the thread for 150+ pages now and I don't remember seeing that. What I do remember Afriman saying was things like "we move more data now on MTN than we did on IS" and other such things, but I don't remember him ever saying that they had enough capacity to satisfy all demands and were just throttling people for the fun of it.
 
so basically all the WoW, Dota, D3 etc... Cape Town and Durban gamers are screwed even longer, if the IPC's are only in Feb or later... uncapped and gaming accounts used to have 160+ms latency, now we lucky to get under 220ms... in a month i am lucky to exceed 40gb on my uncapped account and it is mainly there for the kids for their project work (luckily its year end and school is all but finished) but still doesnt help me with my gaming....

then to top it off 27 days later i get asked if my line query has been resolved, seriously... and then i have to provide even more speedtests for which i have porvided on numerous occasions...

*** throws hands up in despair ***
 
Can somebody please explain what is involved with setting up a new IPC? What can possibly take 3 months to setup? Is it that complicated?
