This is a joke now...... downloading at 2kb/s at this time. LOLOLOL... Now Explain this Afriman

I see your 2kb/s with my http download speed of 0.9kb/s last night! on my 4mb/s line! Everything else including torrents were running perfectly, but http was DEAD.

Tried downloading an Nvidia driver, can't get more than 3kb/s. I think they're punishing us for being their clients. I think its time we all move to new ISPs

Last night was pathetic.
Got between 0 and 1 kb/s downloads.

@Afriman do you really have that little capacity that you can't allow any downloads at 23:00?

Streaming was working great at that time so it wasn't a general network issue.
I really don't think this new random shaping policy is a good idea. Its frustrating to not know when you are going to be able to download anything. Reporting the issue does not help either because the standard "We experienced high demand for bandwith" answer will be given.
If you are going to stick with it then you are going to lose lots of customers.

Not ideal.

Lol! move people, look how it started of with a bang and deteriorated to this now. Things are not getting better, it is getting worse. The wheels have come off, the horse is dead no amount of flogging will help, we are up feaceas creek with out a paddle, We are on a out of control bus driven by Ray Charles, We have accounts with Afrihost.

For you perhaps.

See my post above. That looks like things have improved a lot.

And see the posts above mine, why are Afrihost not treating all their customers equally, what is up with the draconian shaping\denial of service?

Got about 0.2kb/s on torrents last night, and +- 1.5kb/s on http downloads, though browsing seems to be okayish. (After 9pm)

Been going like this for weeks, and i wish there was some kind of compensation to all clients running worse than dialup speeds.

torrents are dead, http downloads 2kb/s.. anything that's gona do with downloading is dead... y afrihost, y... even now everything is dead..... 4mb account. On they site it says "network fully operational"

So much hyperbole. Maybe they're not doing anything malicious on purpose?

If so I would say they are being malicious by omission. There spanking new better than when we were with IS network is not so nice at the moment for a whole lot of people.

Well i have not posted much but last night was the worst. Thx goodness i have a backup account for my world of tanks update
I must admit Mweb ping too the WOT servers are 180-190 ms and afrihost is 250-270ms ? so i dunno hoperfully Afrihost can get things sorted fast or im gonna be the next too find greener pastures even if it cost more.

Nope NOT MOVING! :) (capitals are for emphasis no shouting intended) There is nothing wrong with the network - everything runs fine. I have been getting excellent service and speeds for the last two weeks on ALL fronts....it was just HTTP that was the issue last night. When someone complained in one of the earlier threads about HTTP being slower than P2P, I recall AfriMan saying it should not be so and they would check it out? - Maybe they were tinkering with the system and it managed to cause issues?

I used to be like you too, I remember when Afriman was lying in the gutter after a severe beating dealt up by some unhappy customers on this forum, but I stuck next to him stood up for afrihost and dealt a few good punches to the nay sayers........

I would almost like to say you may suffer from some sort of ISP induced Stockholm Syndrome :)

Aaaaand cancelled.

Sorry, but I cannot handle 10mbps uncapped ADSL feeling worse than a patchy 3G connection. More than willing to give it another try once whatever it causing these issues is sorted out, as everything else about AfriHost as a company is great.

Stop using Speedtest, it is by no means a useful tool as AH prioritize the site.

That is not correct, we don't prioritise speedtest or have a proxy server to colour results. I have said this before. We prioritise browsing and realtime service, there is no white-listing of sites.

I don't recall this incident - maybe I've blocked it out from the trauma.

I'm taking from the post that in the end you decided to move. Truly sad about that, we wish you would have stayed with us. But is it fair to now question those who have decided differently? Seems a little unnecessary to me :(

Nope not Stockholm Syndrome at all - I am in the fight and will stay and still give Afrihost the chance they deserve as an AWESOME affordable ISP. - to quote the famous cliché " THIS IS SPAAAAAARTAAAAA!" - sorry, had to do it. :)
