Picked up an account to trial it for the month at the start of the week (heavy usage, sure, but I want to see how the account fares) and speeds have good up until the past two or so days.

40kB/s maximum on my 2mbps line.

Trying to download a new linux distro, 50kbps. Had a problems Friday and Saturday again.

Will see how MWeb fares when I leave Afrihost end of month

Did you see if it's available on ftp.is.co.za? I get mine from there.

Have experienced better speeds on Edge that this weekend on Afrihost. 10meg line and I cant even download a file from the app store on my iPad, Updated antivirus database earlier today on pc and it downloaded at a wonderfull 24KB/s.

Really is this what you call a network. Is is still the QOS thats not working, or are there something else you guys are not telling us? Why dont you just come clean on this whole network issue instead of the normal "busy working on it"?

Afriman, I just cancelled today, but I got an email saying 30 days cancellation notice is required. What happened to the 'cancel before the 25th to cancel by month end' mentioned elsewhere in this thread?

Dont worry you not alone in the boat. about 3 years ago I had an account with them on my name and I canceled and to this day I still owe them those 30 days I wont pay it cos I canceled before the 25th and they said I need to give 30 days. I am using them now but under my Girlfriends name

Tried both ftp & http this weekend and both eventually timeout after downloading 20-30% if I'm that lucky. Will look for torrent tonight.

Decided to not complain but rather give feedback for the remainder of the month.

The screens in the client zone both said that ISP and Line will be cancelled 31 Jan, but I got an email just after stating 30 days cancellations notice. This might just be a 'one fits all' email and the notice in the client zone will be correct. If they do decide to charge me in Feb, I'll be following the same route as you did.

Sorry to hear this. Pm me and we'll sort your account out ASAP :)

Please drop me a PM, so we can sort this out for you. For RICA purposes we'd prefer to have the correct info, and I'm sure you'd rather have your own services in your name.

Sure we can sort it out quickly :)

sooo... i complained abt getting between 3-5kb download speeds on torrents for the last few days. which includes evenings and the weekend, the suggested solution by afriman, get a capped account. will be cancelling my uncapped account and signing up with openweb/mweb

Are your browsing and streaming speeds also slow, or it this just experienced on file downloads (I'm assuming you're referring to Uncapped data).

Can you drop me a PM so we can look into this if you're general speeds are slow?

Sweet!

Will we get the 10Gb of EASSY available to us before the dbn ipc?

I'd advise you to rather just email the legal guys [email protected] and ask them to clarify or support. Easy and painless, if the terms are cancel before the 25th, then just request confirmation thereof.

" No Contracts. No Catch.
We don't lock you into any long term agreement. If you change your mind about us, you can simply cancel before the 25th of the month."

We probably won't send much traffic over EASSy until the JHB-DBN fibre link is complete. But at least we'll have plenty of redundancy as far as international goes. When all IPC goes live, DBN will probably have really awesome latencies :)
