Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

That will be all news servers.

It's dynamic so there will be times when those services will run at full (or close to full) speeds. When our additional IPC is implemented, there will be a lot space to allow better speeds at peak and off-peak times across the board.

That's nice, but that does not do anything for the month and half I have been using Afrihost. I am sure it will be awesome when it is implemented or the hogs at the top of the leaderboard will just have more bandwidth to smash. I can't belive I am saying this but I would rather have a throttled system after reaching a decent threshold and getting full speed till then. I can't believe I uttered those words. Your dynamic system is actually quite consistent in giving me low kb/s. Can you understand the frustration? I don't want to hear something is coming to save the day. I just want you to know how disatisfied I have been since joining you. Not having enough capacity should not for one freaking second be my problem nor should I have to wait "for things to come right" I am the customer and deserve a proper ISP experience. And before anyones says: if you not happy then leave. I fully plan to speak to Afriman further about the whole line with Afrihost transfer thing.

F#ck this is becoming sooo annoying now. I keep losing my adsl connection.. this happens like 3 to 4 times a day, every day now.
I have to reset my router every time this happens.
Last week I spoke to one of the guys at AH who did something and it was fine for a few days. Now it's starting again.

Logged ticket on the 4th of Feb. Still waiting for any movement in the bushes. Ticket AH20130204-44515. Line dropping about 40 times a day. Looks like paying Afrihost to manage your line, you get 1 free (automated) sms notification that they received your ticket, but from then on...NOTHING. No request for more info or offer to troubleshoot further.

Money well spent.
 
My line is also experiencing packet loss on VPN connections. I have PM'd Afriman regarding this and am awaiting a reply. Maybe a lot of the issues on the network are centered around encrypted (eg:https etc) traffic?

Started tuesday, did a fix line & Telkom reset the port, still happening.

I hear your frustration and please be assured that your words are not falling on deaf ears. We all are following, reading, listening to the feedback from clients, and I can assure you everything which can be done is being done. I know that our management read through this and other threads to make sure they look at all our clients concerns when they plan for the future of Afrihost and our ADSL network.

Anyway, I know you plan to PM me, so we'll chat further when you do. But just so you know that I hear you, and truly do care about what you are feeling :(

It would be very sad indeed, let's hope it doesn't come to that. I've given this straight to our special ops team, and they should get back to you today, once they've done a little digging into the issues you've reported.

Did he log a fault with Telkom for you on the line?

I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I did another "magic button" line reset last night and noticed the line synch DSLAM is @ 2044kbps, but Local sync is @ 512kbps only :-(
I wonder if Telkom doesn't have their fingers stuck in the line again.
Anyhow, let me know how it goes. I sincerely hope we can resolve this annoying issue.

That's very strange. I'd need to have a look but we seem to be getting a lot of cases of dropped sync rates or margins not being reached. Hard to say what the cause is, but most likely cause is DSLAM congestion :(
 
Yes, on all traffic. My uncapped is unusable this morning :(

Hopefully it will be fixed in a couple of hours.

Yea, can't do browsing or news servers or anything. Tried the "fix my line" stuff, to no avail.
 
I did a PM with Afriman, and seem to be making progress in identifying the issues at least on my own line. I was not optimistic when I began the process, but it seems to help to PM him. I would in retrospect advise asking directly instead of complaining since my own position has improved somewhat when directly working with him to try and resolve my own issue.

Unfortunately there are not that many companies where you can reach so high.
I just wish most of his new staff could share the same passion.

As for my problem..so far... no one has even bothered to contact or at least email me :mad: (aside from AfriMan that is).

Afriman is the CEO? That's crazy. I feel bad now I was not more polite. I just assumed he was a typical employee told to do a job. Doesn't he get into trouble with his wife for always hanging around Internet forums?
