Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Update

The shaping rules are the same, but will be applied in separate instances at each IPC. It would not make sense to shape all clients nationally, as some regions should get the benefit of lighter demand on the network in their geographic region. Similarly, when the Durban IPC goes live. Durban clients will only contend with other users connecting to that IPC.

Well, I hope you slacken the JHB shaping rules after all of the CT and DBN folks are back in their homeland enjoying the new equipment.

Now for the update:
My line is back alive (at least)
No confirmation from Telkom or AH as yet...hopefully tomorrow.
However, it's exactly where it is when all of the "fixing" started a month ago.
Bad international speed - 0.68Mbps, Youtubez freezez, live stream sucks and all that jaaazz...

Ok, I now had it. Logged a ticked last night with AfriHost about my CT throughput problem on my Business ADSL Account. Guess what, they log a fault on my line with Telkom? Huh, after all the facts for the past two days and the notice on their Network status. Come on, do people speak with each other at AH? My line sync at 5Mbs and I am happy with that, when tested with a capped account I got 5Mbs but my 6Mbs Business ADSL account barely give 2Mbs. Now knowing that fact, why would you say it is a Telkom issue? Aaaaarrrgggh.

Update:
Ok, just phoned their support and explained it them and asked them the close the log to Telkom as this is related to the IPC. Still shows in the clietnzone, maybe some delayed update, I hope. And, I were very polite, prob. not the guy on the support line's fault. But I will wring the idiot who did log it as a Telkom mistake after explaining how it were tested with a capped account and that there were no problem. Now lets wait and see if the IPC throughput improve.

Please PM me the details so we can resolve this for you. We just had a pretty big batch of new people starting in our support centre, so the agent may need further training :)

We have lost connectivity with Bryanston DC. Engineers are working on finding the cause & resolving. We're sorry for the inconvenience

a 1.8Gb OSx update took the greater part of 8 hrs... also decided to use a torrent and wow 700mb is running at a rate of 2.3kB/s on a 4MB line... is that normal?

I downloaded an iTunes update last night, nearly an hour for 80MB's

speed test was showing about 2Mbps on a 4Mbps line

I've always had speed issues with itunes regardless of ISP

So what's the latest on decreased CPT throughput @Afriman.. my 2MB uncapped is maxing out at 0.97MB

We're still working in the issue. We're seeing intermittent results, and we're trying to pin down why throughput seems to drop unexpectedly. Right now, I still don't have an ETA, but know the guys are working on it with our Technical Director.
