AfriHost uncapped ADSL here soon

Well done Afrihost - you guys were the first to shake me out of my M-Web lethargy (I became an automatic client of theirs when they bought out the iafrica user base). I then stuck with them as a result of sheer inertia and the fact that the other competing ISP's simply did not offer enough of an incentive to switch until Afrihost came along. Not only were the savings significant, the switch was effortless as well.

If not for companies like Afrihost M-Web would still be gouging us - that's just the reality of having a virtual monopoly - no competition, no incentive to change (when I switched from M-Web I was asked why I switched - told them why I was going to Afrihost - seems the message finally got through).

So something like:
384kbps R249 all-inclusive
512kbps R399 all-inclusive
4mbps R699 all-inclusive
Would guarantee an exodus from other ISP's and an influx for Afrihost...

4mbps R699 all-inclusive would be phenomenal!!
but even if Afrihost matches mwebs pricing I'd upgrade my account to uncapped then.

Best service and efficient!!
Little guys maybe.. but...
Support those that support you! :D

Come on Telkom, step up to the plate and drop the dual line rental and the prices....

Clearly, with the current state of all things dsl in SA, there's very little more that ISP's can do to make the internet accessible to the masses via these entry-level offerings. Now Telkom remains the unrelenting obstacle still holding this country to ransom, holding back education of the masses, maintaining the digital-divide. The double charge for a line is simply unethical - shameless profiteering! If hellkom refuses to come to the party soon, it's time the consumer protection agencies, or perhaps even the :erm: government, should step in to address the matter...!
TELKOM YOUR IMAGE AS THE VILLAIN HAS NEVER BEEN MORE PRONOUNCED THAN IT IS NOW !!!

Let's hope they're paying attention...

I'm sticking with Mweb, considering they're the ones who had the decency to start this uncapped price war, and the other ISP's aren't undercutting them significantly. Mweb will probably be better-equipped to deal with an influx of customers, too. I'm also interested to see what other announcements they have up their sleeve.

But the plan's been to keep our 2gig AfriHost spare account all along in order to support the "little guys" who tried to do good, and we still will :D

Its not really them!
Digichill, screamer, were on the first line, then saol and sainet

Mmmm, I don't trust MWeb as far as I can throw them... read the fine print!
Also Afrihost has let me down BIG time this week. I am at the point of switching back to SAIX BW and moving hosting back to Hetzner.

haha, "unsustainable" is the NEW imminent....
+1

seems to be a very fine line between the two. Strange how in SA it is about black and white. No inbetweens even if it is about internet. :wtf:

Someone wake Webafrica up ...

Hey I remember WebAfrica. Didn't they have that network trial last year that resulted in ........NOTHING? It's amazing how much effect some bad executive decisions have on a company and their image. The board should consider firing themselves.

Great News about AfriHost offering uncapped!!

damn man...canceled my afrihost earlier the month when i got my 30GB WA account....
Canceled my 30 GB account today lol
then signed up with mweb today for the uncapped :)
will stay with them cause i get a free month come end of April, the gloves are off!!!

can someone pm about mweb news server??? i cannot connect...
please would be very gratefull!!!

Seeing as the price will most likely be the same or a negligible difference like Vox, what do you guys think about Afrihost vs Mweb? (Not interested in fanboy stuff, either will be perfect for "support") I'd trust MWeb's new Seacom/SAIX/IS network more than Afrihost's current IS network. MWeb really impressed with their rep, it sounds like a near-perfect product at the moment, Afrihost sound like they will have to be a bit more amateur around shaping.

Awesome news... was just about to cancel and move to Mweb. I love Afrihost and I'm glad I'll be able to stick with them.

Keep up the good work, guys.

Nice. The more there are to choose from, the merrier I am. Despite being sorely tempted, I'm glad I didn't rush over to Mweb. I'd much rather be with Afrihost.

There is also still time for Axxess to join the party. Although I got a newsletter of theirs today, bragging about their "PRO ADSL Internet" with "1GB Data per month". Apparently this is their flagship package. It seems they are still operating on some distant, alien planet.

I also applied for the WA specials. Already cancelled the 11gb one, and tbh, not sure I want the 16gb any more either.

I'm wondering if Afrihost will offer any complete packages.

Will have to wait and see.

ARE a great ISP

Dont be a xxxx, think about it, the smaller guys will just turn out to be resellers, having to shape/administrate their traffic at the access layer, whilst the second tier administrates the distribution layer, which basically means you have two access layers on top of eachother before you even think of reaching the core! Rather just move your own access layer one up? Think about it?

YES :D This was the news I was hoping to hear, now I get to stay with this wonderful ISP who started this revolution :)

Hell even if they're more expensive than MWEB I'm willing to stick with em as Gian is a forward thinker always looking at giving the best to his clients!

Awesome! Was going to sign up with either Mweb or Openweb tomorrow morning, but now I'm waiting for Tuesday :)

Guys we cant afford to be loyal to anybody at this stage, the prices are still too high, remember that customer loyality is just a business mechanism, dont fall for it. At this point in the game allegences must remain liquid, the ISP's need to realise that they can lose entire user bases overnight if they dont stay competitive and drive these, STILL EXPENSIVE, prices down!

We can settle when 8Mb uncapped including line rental is R299.
