Afrihost Uncapped Latency problems on the new network (MTN)

Just stating the facts from my perspective, while you as an individual client may have seen things differently, I deal with several hundreds (thousands) of clients. Similarly, I get a lot of feedback from clients saying they're getting a good stable connection on the network. Not saying there is no problem, but that I have a different perspective.

Taking a sample of the data posted by customers here paints a very different picture.

I will walk across to the consumer commission tomorrow morning and gather what their take is.

Consumer Commission, AH talks putty, playing dirty, pathetic, cancelling your accounts ... guys what's wrong with you?

We all are experiencing similar problems right now, right. Yes, the pings are thru the roof, throughput is bad and all that. AH is honest enough to post it on their website. And AfriMan admitted to the fact that they mucked it up. So now they're reacting like responsible people, working on it and trying to get the mess sorted out.

I'd say let's give AH a break. Do you think they are sitting on the beach, slurping fancy drinks and have nothing to do but counting the money? I guess not!

Random stuff...I'd say let's give AH a break. Do you think they are sitting on the beach, slurping fancy drinks and have nothing to do but counting the money? I guess not!

Everyone and their bat knows AH have made a royal bugger up, that's plain to see. The issue is this, nothing is being done anytime soon, and the greater body of AH is in denial.

The response of a company who had any brass would have been, 'We are extremely sorry that we overlooked the need for an IPC in Cape Town, this was a terrible oversight on our side. For the time being, we will be moving all effected clients back onto the IS network, which we will bear the additional cost for, because we messed up. We will be giving due dates for the CPT IPC shortly, and will keep everyone in the loop. We are extremely sorry for the hassle caused'

Its all great getting words posted on forums, but in reality the response has been, send us 10 tracerts, do a speed test, we will do other routing, please feed your pet pig, and pat daisy the cow...Oh you still have a local ping of 50ms, that's actually inside of our acceptable range, go get bent. Cheers Afrihost. (Yes I have an email from support saying that, in a more PC way).

My housemate has Afrihost, and I have MWEB - over the weekend he was complaining of slow browsing and his gaming latencies where REALLY bad all of a sudden.

I disconnected my MWEB on my router, and entered the details onto his - he was like "WOW THIS IS FAST INTERNET !".

Gian and the boys seriously fumbled this one I'm sorry to say ! - Hope you don't lose too many customers because of the latency issues.. Gamers especially.
I've always had a backup Afrihost account for gaming - I chucked that when the move to MTN happened.

I convinced my business partner to use Afrihost because of their cheap capped packages, and I am sorry to say it was the worst decision ever. I actually look like a fool to my partner due to this fiasco.

My business cannot function due to the high latency and poor speeds.

Afrihost, please sort this out ASAP, otherwise I will be taking my business elsewhere.
