Age gaps in relationships

the 1/2 the age plus 7 rule would make her 20 years younger than me

My great uncle was 19 years younger than his wife. They were married for many many years in what as far I know, was a very happy marriage.

When my great aunt died my my uncle was grief stricken and you could see it take a toll on him.

Age might play a roll in relationships, but it doesn't mean it's that important or that it won't ever work. Some people just click.

I don't think the same rules apply for gay and straight relationships.

Firstly there aren't any rules.

Secondly why would there be any difference at all? The conversation is about interpersonal relationships and that logic largely is the same between any variety of people whether girlfriend and boyfriend or boyfriend and boyfriend or even just friends.

My mother was 11 years older than my father. They were happily married for 62 years.
