Aggressive ADSL pricing from new player

At R 57 per GB Afrihost is cheaper than Axxess’ R 59, Web Africa’s R 70 per GB and Telkom’s R 79 per month

What is the pro and cons of the cheaper deals? Can it beat the Telkom's slack capping and 30G local?

It is not real competition. Just another reseller in an oversold market, peddling the same old per-gigabyte rations, none of which can compete because big daddy Telkom has dealt everyone (except his own retail arm) such a crap hand.

Yep... waste of an article really.

Compared to this, most chiuauas are classified "aggressive". Vat hom Tinkerbelle!

Meh - I really don't mind the prices... just increase the caps at least 3-fold. I mean it can't be that difficult you prats.

This is just plain pathetic...

Aggressive my *ss! Going backwards is the truth.

Always been R55/gig at... http://www.myisp.co.za/

The article mentions this. Read before posting.

Does anyone realise that if ISPs keep reducing their prices by R2, we will be paying less in the future? Do you expect to see instant R45 drops per GB. Be realistic.

You will not see any real price reductions until after the soccer tourists have left.

if at all, price reductions are always welcome unlike telkoms so called reductions.

Does anyone know whether Afrihost or MyISP's offers are contract-only or not?

Nothing new, just another company with the same deals, watching paint dry is more interesting.

Well, SAINet are R59 for 1GB (Shaped International + Local (Blended)), no contract, pay by EFT, AND ... the 1GB rolls over for 2 months.

I am pretty sure that MyISP will at least be offering the same kind of flexibility, otherwise, R2 more with SAINET is the way to go.

However, in the UNSHAPED world of ADSL, GConnect is winning hands down.
Their R0.065 per MB equates to R66.56 per GB for UNSHAPED ADSL.
AND, GConnect's product does not expire at the end of the month, and can roll-over for ever.

GConnect's closest competition price-wise in the world of UNSHAPED ADSL is AXXESS, who is offering 1 GB for R99, but that expires at the end of the month, making GConnect the unchallenged winner hands down.

Im currently paying R290 for 5GB from WebAfrica, sure its R20 more expensive but will I get the same service levels?

Don't forget FNB Connect....6.9c/MB, also unshaped and 12 month carry over...blows everyone but G-Connect out of the water.

This is great news! Keep it up! Every price reduction helps. It's little trickles like these that eventually cause the dam to collapse! Don't worry guys, this is just the start! More to come... much more!

Interesting. I signed up for the Telkom 3gig package at the beginning of the month and as of today my usage stats are:

Blended Usage
Uploaded - 268MB or [0.26GB]
Downloaded - 1.83GB
Combined Total - 2.09GB
Percentage used - 46.63%
Status - Not Capped

Am I getting 4.5GB's this month for the price of 3?
