Hi Guys,

I'm on the Axxess Just Uncapped 4096kbps package.

I've pulled 140GB so far this month and i'm now shaped to a crawl.

I called their call centre and i'm definitely shaped at a rating of 1 out of 5 stars (1 being highest group of users). I'm currently as a result experiencing speeds of sub 384kbps quality - this at like 22:00 at night.

Anyone else having this?

I'd be interested to compare data usage / shaping.

Is IS becoming more aggressive in their shaping policies or is this Axxess?

Thanks
J

140GB is in the top 20%? Pretty sure they have guys touting 5 times that. :\

I also do around 150Gb on a heavy month, (enjoy my HD TV Episodes) among other things like digital distribution purchases. And I'm using Axxess Express Uncapped 4096 and my speed's for the last month or more have been DIRE to say the least. I don't consider myself a heavy user, average about 100Gb a month sometimes less... Honestly it's time for me to look at moving to Mweb.

Top 50%.
Read the throttle policies again. 384 and 512 users use the top 20% shaping pool.

Larger connections like 1M, 4M, 10M - they get to use top 50% shaping pool.

Axxess removed the figures which showed the highest download totals for customers. Probably because they had to since it was a complete lie.

Move to mweb? have you been reading the thread about the speed issues on this forum?

im on same account, during the day 8am til 5pm just html browsing and email, from 5pm til 10pm ( 20kb/s), 10pm til 12 (80kb/s), (200 - 300kb/s) from 12 til 6am, 80kb/s from 6am til 7am, (20kb/s) 7am til 8am

Good luck. You'll be getting full speed from 1am - 6am only, and shaped to death any time outside that.

Trust me, I just left Mweb. If I didn't get a 130GB RedAfrica account then I would have went with Openweb Gold.

I just signed up with MWeb and it's pretty much the same as it was when I cancelled due to financial reasons a few months ago. I've just run a few HD (720p) movie trailers from youtube without buffering, speedtests are good and I'm currently downloading a 1GB file at about 350kB/s via unencrypted http. I don't do torrents and I haven't had a chance to try giganews yet, but so far so good. The only OpenWeb uncapped shaped package I've ever used was the 384k Gold Uncapped and that was not much better than the competing products.

I'm not saying Openweb < MWeb, I'm just saying that uncapped in SA is a bit of a lottery. For every guy getting shaped to death there are several guys who are having a great experience. One thing I do know for sure though is that Axxess uncapped sucks after the first few days of the month.

I'm having 50KB/s speeds on Afrihost on my 4mbps account. They have a 10 day rolling window. I've downloaded not so much this month and I'm still crawling.
