I just got one of these. Brought it home, ripped off the shrink wrap, opened the box, shoved it in, set it up, and started listening to my tunes. Bliss.

Didn't last long though. I was really disappointed to find out it works only for iTunes. After some searching I found Airfoil for hijacking all sound and sending it to the AE, but this exposed the second problem: video sound is out of sync. Did some more reading - Airfoil have thought of this and provided the Airfoil Video Player. Cool! But it doesn't play 720p very smoothly - as if it cannot draw the screen fast enough. It's a bit like when you record a video of a TV screen - that scrolling effect.

Does anyone know of a better way around this problem?

Until Apple do it properly themselves, you're out of luck. btw are you using the "n" Airport Express? I had the same problem but was using the older models.. was hoping the new ones would work better.

also, did you know that airfoil also allows other machines in your house to be used for airtunes.

Yeah, it's the brand spanking new one. It has 'n' capability, but I only use it in wireless client mode, since I have a dedicated wireless AP with a pornstar antenna - few things touches it as far as range goes :)

I did read about using other machines - there's even a linux client (giving me some ideas).

/me off to complain to Apple...

I bought the airport express and couldn't get it to extend my existing network to plug it into my Xbox. So in the end I had to get the official wireless network adaptor for it. I was pretty keen to use for streaming music over airtunes, use my remote on my ipod and then of course extend the network to another part of the house. Had promised all this on the apple site but I had to take it back.

I use one for my 360. Never had any problems.
