Any recommendations on choosing between Ajax and AX-pro security ecosystem?

I wish to upgrade a fairly old but operational wired alarm system (mostly beams, magnets and Indoor PIR's) by integrating these items through the multi transmitter modules of either Ajax or AX-pro and then adding a few additional wireless products. I also have a few IP cameras (not Hikvision) that I would like to integrate.

There doesn’t seem to be much research out there comparing the two systems in depth, but it’s evident that AX-pro is much cheaper across the board and has a few unique out of the box products, for example the outdoor magnets which is useful for outdoor gates, garage doors etc.

However, is it worth paying a premium for Ajax who seems to have a slightly better app or is there more to it?

Any badly functioning app will eventually have you throwing your electronics into the floor, which makes it suddenly way more expensive than you figured ...

Keep in mind if you want to link to an armed response company, they need to support it. I found most if not all support Ajax, whereas little to none support AX-pro (yet). I went with Ajax.

thanks, for conventional link up (old radio alarm company link ups) I understand there are interfaces/relays/workarounds, will those work ?

Yeah I am sure they would but then you kind of defeating the purpose of the new system. The armed response companies (as far as I know) make use of a monitoring service provider (Like SEON)...the old tech uses radio, and you pay for that as well. With AJAX its internet (cloud based) as far as I know and they have to integrate it - if they use this they can have more detail, about the type (fire, water, intruder) of alarm zone etc. Whereas radio is simple yes no. Also the beauty of these products is self-install/clean/upgradeable and much more detail/accuracy. If you use Radio link, no more self-install and less detail to armed response. Best to ask your local company what they support.

Thanks. will keep this in mind.

I am also super interested in the HikVision AX Pro , but currently alarm company only supports Ajax or legacy radio solutions. the HK solution seems to perform better on detection from what i can gather on the web but the ecosystem / app maturity is always a concern from HK side ... but a decent competitor to Ajax at a good price point would be very welcome. anyone taken the plunge with a AX Pro ?

Seems there are workarounds to get the link working.

I also have an Ajax system installed. No regrets.

I cannot comment on the Hikvision.

am also contemplating between the Ajax and HK Vision AX Pro.
difference in price definately
is the R5k difference worth the extra spend?
i dont need the on demand camera functionality
just mainly for outdoor coverage

I am also eyeing the Hikvision for outside, because of its integration with my Hik NVR.

My experience so far with the Hikvision AX Pro system since gradually installing it over the last 3 months or so:
1) The wireless installation is a breeze
2) ADT advised they don't support the Hikvision system, so I moved to CDF who managed to do the integration quite easily. (They also happen to be cheaper which is great).
2) The batteries that came with the devices are probably old. I've had to replace quite a few in the first 3 months. Two of the devices I had to hard reset and install again after changing the batteries.
3) One remote stopped working for a while, then started working again
4) The outside sensors I'm still struggling with. Although they appear to be installed and online etc, when I test them by walking outside they don't trigger the alarm. This is my last frustration for which I don't have an answer just yet.

I still have to install the external sounder which I purchased most recently.

Other than the few issues mentioned above, it's a great system. At this stage I will give it a 3.5/5 but once I have the outside sensors correctly configured I will give it a 4.5/5.

I've been using the AX-Pro for about 2 or 3 years now, no issues what so ever

The biggest "headache" for me was linking to our security company

initially i used the wireless relays to trigger the radio, but this was just a temporary solution, once our response company got the correct radio from rdc , it was a breeze,

That said, the interface board they sell on geewiz that says fsk/rdc , isnt correct

it doesnt work with rdc, the correct board needs to be bought from rdc via your alarm company , theres some or other coding that needs to happen first

I have no knowledge about this type of thing at all, but can say that the security company configured mine as FSK (under Alarm Receiving Center options in the app).

Hi all

Just want to give my life. I am running 100% on Hik vision Ax Pro. I have almost quite every product with regards to the ax pro family and then a dvr with ip and wifi cameras.

Axpro does connect to the security company with the radio( setting in the software and that that's), however the security company does need to have some radio on their side but it was default that they had it.

Otherwise all good. Always on my phone to operate the app etc.

Anyone else experiencing challenges with the cr123 batteries? I have 2 outdoor AX Pro PIRs that takes (IIRC) 5 batteries. I recently had to replace the batteries in the one PIR and just a few weeks later they are flat again. At roughly per battery, this system is certainly a bit more expensive to maintain. I usually buy the Varta which is supposedly 1,430 mAh.

I'm now considering buying rechargeables, but I notice their voltage is 3.7V compared to the non-rechargeables that are 3V - not sure if that will be an issue. Also they are only around 600mAh - 700mAh.
