If you use a singleton pattern you'll cause only once instance to be created of the object.
Using a closure on that method signature will make it more re-usable.

Also, if you know it in Afrikaans, you'll still need to translate it to english for your counterparts from India.
And ofcourse other international teams.
So yeah ... learning IT x2 =
That's a unicode character. (There was a unicode character I swear)
Wat is dit?

Yeah, it's called freedom of expression. I know. And that's fine.

I have a problem with things like that in education specifically. You're teaching the learners something completely off track, this will have an impact on their mindset and it'll be a question of time before employers also realise this and the degree becomes worthless cause no one wants you're little indoctrinated mind at their place of business.

I've seen CV's thrown out for partaking in political activities as part of being a student, so it's not that far fetched that CV's will be overlooked in favor of a big traditional institution.

Whatever, it's their money. They can do what they like.

Depends to what extreme.

If your only gripe is the Oranje Blanje Blou flag then you are worrying over the wrong things. A flag is a powerful memory tool of how SA can be more functional again by focusing on the positives of the past.

If the ANC can have their terrorist flag still hanging in this country it is a far cry to be concerned about the Oranje Blanje Blou flag.

Think about it just for 2 mins, seeing the ANC flag hanging in the government is borderline seeing ISIS/Taliban flag hanging in the government of a country. ANC performed terror attacks on par with some of the ISIS attacks but we don't make a stink about their flag.

ps. ISIS is also freedom fighters, fighting for their homeland, who are we to claim otherwise. 0_o

Wasn't just the OBB flag. My understanding is it was the 4 colour as well.

However, I don't know the exact level of indoctrination/propaganda so I'll leave it at that. I've highlighted my concerns, and stated that this is second hand information. So it could all be nonsense as well.

First it seems its just speculation, perhaps the flag isn't even there.

Secondly, the old flag is named the Oranje Blanje Blou unless you are referring to a different "old" flag. No idea what you mean with "4 colour".

But ye it is more likely than not just propaganda bs "telefoontjie" drama stirred up by the same mental nutjobs making up all kinds of crazy stuff about places like Orania. Orania looks boring as hell to live in but in the same mind they have been targeted by all kinds of crazy people over the years and not a single claim made against them is true.

....

Different languages might work for European countries. They literally selected the language on the computer, I've never seen someone in SA use anything other than English on a computer. Is Afrikaans even an option. And how deep does that go. Im sure it's just cosmetic the underlying OS and code is the same.
There are lots of software available in Afrikaans and some in other South African languages as well. Download and install the language pack of your choice. Is use it some times.

So many Afrikaans speakers that were/are forced to study in English only.

Had Electronics lessons in high school, had no problems with the English terminology, but felt more comfortable communicating in Afrikaans with the lecturer.

Looking at the mess that UNISA and some other 'public' universities have become, we really need more of these institutions.

Yup. I will go so far and ask why all those rich billionaire black businessmen do not fund a Xhosa or Zulu focused Academy in the same vein.

Always quick to make noise about helping "their people" but I do not see these initiatives ever coming out of their own pockets and always lean on the government to do these things and we all know the government don't do sht.

Oh boy, are we hunting down that far back into the past. I highly doubt they would have that flag and that flag has sweet fkol to do with the 20th century Apartheid history which I thought was the main reason some do not want to see the Oranje Blanje Blou flag.

I guess the hunt to be upset about something will inevitably go back all the way to the day Jan set foot in the Cape so it won't surprise me. ;-)

Don't know if I agree with that. It's an extremely well-known flag in SA, featured prominently on the old SA flag and is/was flown regularly by right-wing groups like the AWB, not all that long ago.

En hoor jy die magtige dreuning?
Oor die veld kom dit wyd gesweef:
die lied van 'n volk se ontwaking
wat harte laat sidder en beef.
Van Kaapland tot bo in die Noorde
rys dawerend luid die akkoorde:
Dit is die LIED van Jong Suid-Afrika,
dit is die LIED van Jong Suid-Afrika,
dit is die LIED van Jong Suid-Afrika.

Computer Science in Afrikaans is a bad idea. I'm Afrikaans. It is OK to have the course conducted in Afrikaans, but the terminology has to be in English. It also is great to not have to do the maths in English. It really is a tit-grind to relearn 12 years of maths terminology when you get to Varsity. Like you do if you have to but not having to do it is nice.

But why?

Like they do engineering the material and syntax will be English just taught in Afrikaans.

Yeah, it can be English and Afrikaans together. Just being allowed to ask questions and be answered in Afrikaans is great. If the regular UNIs that used to be Afrikaans can just do that it would be great. That and allow you to do your exams in Afrikaans. Why do we have to ask this banana republic for inclusive policies, is that not the spirit that this nation was built on?

Ek stem heeltemal saam. Ek wil hê dat hulle goed doen maar ek sal ook aarselend wees om studente van daar aan te stel. Jy moet studente blootstel aan die realiteite van die wêreld en sy diversiteit.

Well, from a personal perspective, it's a bit weird to have a CompSci course completely in Afrikaans. I mean amandla to you if you like to (seeing as it is your right to receive education in the language of your choice in SA according to the constitution), but I prefer having English classes for CompSci/IT purposes, makes things easier

Is this part of the old national anthem? Asking as a born-free

Someone asked why Afriforum opposed UNISA and other university's plans to stop Afrikaans classes on non-Afrikaans programs
On Twitter (the internet's poster boy), many are acting like Afrikaans-medium classes are being forced upon the students of UNISA 1976-style, even tho that's not true. Why the explicit hate of Afrikaans as a language? Isn't it protected by the constitution the same as the other 10 languages?
