All things Shelly

Cant wait to get the motion detectors.

Just very pricy!

I'm not too clued up on the Shelley products. Has anyone used a Shelley Plus 1 PM on a pool pump?
Running, the pump should draw about 3.3A,but I'm worried about startup inrush current.

My mechanical pool pump keeps losing time due to load shedding, so I want something else on there.
I have a Shelly 1 managing my uncle's pool pump. Works flawlessly and allows him to turn off the pool pump when the sun isn't shining and his PV system isn't producing as much power as he would like.

Did you order from Europe?
No meant can't wait for it to be released in SA.

But assume will still be pricy.

Hopefully not R 1 258 from Europe (DHL) but under R900 which is still pricy.

I’m running a 1pm on my pool pump. Works well for me.

I know waiting sucks, but there is a reason for it.
Without proper certification your insurance can and likely will dismiss any claims that could be linked to your electrical system.
I am physically able to touch and handle the new Shelly units that I want to use personally, but without certification those units will be gathering dust in our warehouse.

Do these new units include the Shelly EM?

Yes they do. I have a situation where one of those would do what I need. But here I sit and wait.
I've heard two responses about that certification:
1. Certification is still underway; and/or
2. There's no demand for the product.
I'm hoping that they do see the demand for the product and that certification will eventually happen, even though it's been over 2 years now.

It’s been 2 years because we live in Africa and we have more stringent standards than anywhere else in the world /s

Yet several other Shelly products are already available in the market. So why not the Shelly EM?
PS: I've noted the use of sarcasm there, but had to ask.

When a product is imported (officially) into the country, the documents are supplied by the manufacturer (Ie Shelly) and just forwarded to the relevant bodies here (ICASA or NRCS) . The local importer has zero influence on these documents and it’s fully down to the manufacturer as to what documentation is sent

Sometimes, there are different versions and amendments to standards. Sometimes a manufacturer uses different laboratories to do the tests. Sometimes an older product has a different standards used to a new product. It’s not uncommon for different products to have different certifications.

That’s what happened there - the Shelly 1 / 1PM etc were all accepted because ICASA/NRCS were happy with what was sent. Shelly EM had a different standard and therefore, not accepted

Anyone know if any of the local places will have black Friday deals on their Shelly stuff?

P.S. Another brain dead one on the local certification. You get both the white and RGBW in GU10, but only the white in E27, it seams the RGBW E27 doesn't have certification.

I'm almost sure that's wrong

Where did you get the info ?

At first I thought you were correct until I found this:

What did they say ?

They're just not super popular - that's all. People are going to keep what sells (though, I'd at least list the product myself)

They basically said they can't sell it yet, I can't remember the exact wording, but it was pretty obvious that it's the certification issue.
