All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

Has anyone used these batteries(BSL Powerline-5) with their Sunsynk inverter? Solar supplier says the Sunsynk batteries have a 4 week lead time, but these batteries should be available sooner, so I'm weighing my options

I just had 3 installed last week (waiting for my CoC and installation report for insurance before I create a thread).
Actually had the option of doing Sunsynk or BSL but after doing some reading I decided on the BSL even if I don't get the extended warranty.
 
On the other forum, someone mentioned the power setting per time slot will actually limit the battery discharge power while on grid. But when grid is down then the discharge amps setting or bms max discharge will be what trips the inverter. Anyone use these settings? Nervous to test..
Ideally looking for batteries to discharge maximum 100A (or 5kw), but when no grid then fine to go up to 150A.

Any known reasons why the prepaid meter doesn't tie up to what the inverter shows as import? Export is 0kwh, import is 1kwh, but prepaid meter shows 3kwh used. This is over 3 days. SS 8kw, everything on essential, there is one plug not on inverter but that has not been used. Is the trickle feed used and counted in the load? That could account for the difference maybe.

When grid down, the inverter did not trip when running a 3000w kettle and the power setting was set to 2000w. So battery provided all power.
When grid available, used 2000w from battery and the remainder from grid.
Last piece to test will be when PV available, but as far as it was explained on powerforum, it will still only limit the battery discharge power and use full PV then remainder from grid. If no grid, then won't trip inverter until inverter limit hit or minimum of battery discharge setting and BMS discharge max.

So quite a cool setting for anyone looking to manage battery health and even saving battery energy to get through the night, for example.

And tested with PV, works as hoped/expected.

Had 1.9kw of PV, set timer power to 5kw, ran a load of 8kw, it used the 1.9kw of PV plus 5.3kw from the battery and the remainder from grid.

Oof, installer was supposed to come in today to install my third battery. Didn't hear a thing from them, at 11am I decide to send them a message only to hear back that no, they're not coming today on the agreed install date and it's been pushed back. Would have sat here like a dumbass all day waiting if I didn't contact them.

Really grinds my gears when companies don't communicate these things properly.

I would recommend you not use Thorne Solar if you can help it, I've already been waiting 2 months just to have one battery added.

@Tradezzz I have a similar situation with a Deye 8k and a City power Prepaid meter. The date/time on the meter is wrong so i suspect correlating the usage is an issue due to that but if you calculate long time as well the figures are still widely off.

I keep a log myself of the reading on the prepaid meter, so it's not a timing thing on my side. Will see what others say...
I'm thinking either the trickle feed, or the wifi unit at the box being powered is billed to the customer. This is City of Tshwane.
Will try see if it is a consistent amount per day.
 
Just a quest. Can one mix different sized batteries. Like can I buy a 3.6kWh and later add another 5kWh one?
I'd like to get 8kW inverter + 3.6kWh battery + 2x panels. +-R90k
Add 5kWh battery and few more panels a few months later. etc

Only if you buy Pylontech. Other brands don't allow mixing sizes.

My pylontech battery bank has been operating flawlessly for 3 years now.

When I installed the system it was with 3 x US3000B. After 1 year I added a US3000C and at the end of year 2 I added a UP5000. Added the last UP5000 battery a few months ago.

One more UP5000 to be added in a few months to complete my battery bank. 531502964.jpg

I see Pylon US3000C 3.5kWh is more expensive than HinaESS 5.12kWh. So I might not get away with a cheaper battery
Yes, the reputable brand with a significant track record of producing high quality units will be more expensive than the new guy nobody has ever heard of.

City Power PrePaid.

I've been tracking total imported according to inverter logs vs CityPower since go-live.

Currently at 46 units (!!) more according to PP meter vs SS import log total over the last 90 days.

Surely cannot be trickle feed (set mine to 0w some time ago) or grid status LED or PP meter comms?

AC to DC and back conversion losses maybe? One would assume those would be factored in and reported though...

I don't think it's the losses. My understanding is that can be calculated anyway and the "Grid"/"Import" reading is the net real import anyway. Some meters charge for export so can add that.

(PV+import+discharge) - (charge+load+export) = usage for running the inverter which should include losses already?

But yeah no idea why it would differ so much..

I don't have a thread as I started before everyone started creating individual threads for their systems but I think I should create one.

System

8kw sunsynk
10.37kwp solar panels
6 x pylontech batteries 24kWh

Total solar generation to date = 41.3MWh
