All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

Geysers are on essential because I got annoyed that when load shedding or multi day area outages occured, I could not use the solar power to heat them when there was more than enough capcity to do so.

As I write this, grid power just got lost (Eskom outside on the street!!)

Removing HA as I will need to rent this house out and I won't be able to support it .

Have to remove my Tasmota Sonoffs, etc and replace with Tuya so at least the tenant can manage the house as they see fit with the Tuya App.

This is the Beauty of Aux / Smart load - you set the battery percentage you want it to go off if no grid so if the battery % is under that it switches off but if over (or gets charged to over that amount) it comes on - its honestly the reason I went with Deye / sunsynk instead of another inverter

never even knew or thought of that. will see if the sparky can move the geyser circuits to the aux load - maybe it will be better.

What if the geyser pulls 3000watts, the PV gives 2000watts and the essential load is 1000watts, battery full.
Will the Aux / Smart Load get 1000 watts? How will your geyser handle that? I suppose you would "supplement" with the grid? But what if the grid is not available?

That's the only negative of using Aux for geyser, your essential and aux load is shared through the inverter, it cannot supplement from grid, I use Home Assistant to switch off my geyser once the load goes over 5000W (I have a 5kW Inverter) "We" (meaning the wife) have managed to use more than 5000W while geyser is off and then tripped the inverter a few times. The grid will help to supplement charging of batteries and handling the load but your are still limited to inverter size on Load + Aux.

Its got a bit of fuzzy logic
there are 2 settings on grid always on or of (i refer to eskom in terms of you getting power from the grid to prevent confsion from the setting)
if on grid always on is off then the smart load will follow the settings you set (based on the PV and battery) if lower then that you cant use the smart load stuff even if eskom is on) if on grid always is on it will pull from PV and battery based on your TOU settings and PV/ grid if tou is reached
if there is no eskom
if your battery percentage is above the setting it will pull from pV and the battery , if under the setting the smart load goes off until the battery percentage is above the required amount then it will come on

it can supplement from grid as i mentioned above but correct you still limited to the max KW your inverter can provide
but i have my 2 geysers and oven on an 8kw and it works fine ,i try not to use both geysers at the same time but tested it works fine but lol i dont push it
 
I'm seeing some weird behavior with Solarman dongle and Sunsynk 5kW inverter today, it started showing --W for solar production from about 9.55am this morning. The rest of the data seems to be showing up correctly and I can see my battery SoC(%) going up so I think the inverter is working and charging etc., just a logging/data/display issue.

Seeing the same, maybe a solarman issue, but checked now and looks fixed

thought something went wrong with my setup, but the SOC was still moving upwards
Haha! Me too! I was panicking and running over scenarios in my mind, could it be PV fuses, maybe the breaker, etc.! But yes, as soon as I saw the SoC moving upwards then I also settled down a bit.

Couldn't we always remote control the settings on the inverter? You mean like changing System Work Mode settings etc?

Yeah that's what I mean. OK maybe I'm late to the game, when I first set the app up years ago it definitely wasn't possible to change the settings via the solarman app.

Possibly. I've only had my system in full operation from this year April or so.
 
I have 10kwh capacity on my 2 batteries and when I get up in the morning some days it is on 50% charge left and my limit is set to 30% before Eskom kicks in though I have dropped the mains now as summer is coming. Is it best practice to drain the batteries down to 31% now and then or leave it and let it go back to 100% charge from solar?
