Oh ok, so like indoor units with extraction. I've only ever considered a outdoor unit and quite frankly next time my geyser pops, going to go that route, especially as we had to relocate the geyser last time to outside anyway.

Yip, i was trying to show that if rackmounting can be so tightly spaced, that wall mounting could probably be the same... although granted sometimes racks will have additional cooling.

It might be annoying, the fans are loud enough to be a disturbance unless the ambient sound is louder. It's a bit louder than a PC fan that's under heavy load...

Mine is in the kitchen and we've become used to it. The fans are really only on if loads are over 1.5kw for an extended period so not really on at night.

The other time it's on is during the day when the solar panels are pushing out over 3kw and charging the batteries.
 
Thanks, I can't put the inverter in the garage as it has some dampness issues and it's also on the opposite end of the property far away from the DB.

1 option I have is to put the inverter in the lounge, directly behind the DB or in a sheltered and gated off courtyard area but then dust might become an issue and it's also a bit less secure.

Distance is not such a issue. I have mine in my granny flat. The panels are mounted above and near by but between its db's and the main db in our kitchen ,it's about a 7m cable run. Distance is more important for panels and batteries AFAIK, not the AC to db.

Noted, it will be a 21m cable run if I put it in the garage :laugh:

Panels are in a central spot so their runs will be about the same regardless of the inverter placement.

It's important on the AC side if you plan to use the CT to power non-essentials. The signal starts dropping off rapidly beyond 20m.

If you plan to have everything on essentials then it's fine...

I have mine installed in the garage and the cable back is about 20m and have no issues. Also use the CT without any issues. Main thing is you want to have the battery right next to inverter and panels as close as possible

It bugs the living daylights out of me (rest of the family seems nonplussed though). I tried connecting up a variety of external fans but nothing really worked so far. Next step is to 3d print a holder for some PC fans.

That sounds a bit short. AC is geared to provide power over distance with minimal loss, 20m is very little.
 
Can someone explain the SSEG requirement? Is application required even if you don't feedback to the grid - but still have a grid connected system?
 
Should register it just to be "safe"
