All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

My washing machine runs of the battery often during loadshedding. Just note that there is times during the cycle, when it does use a chunk of power. I'm assuming it's when it heats up water as it's only connected to a cold water line. It's not for long periods though, but still something to take note of. (I have a Bosch series 4 front loader).
I have the same. Around 2.4kw or so IIRC. Everything runs off battery in my house except geyser but even that can run on essentials with timer kicking in are 4-6am before we are up to shower. Provided you don't switch them all on at once it's fine.

I'm about halfway into my journey (batteries, inverter, no panels).
The installer set the battery to always charge to 100%.

Now, my parents also have a system, and theirs is set fairly differently, for example 01:00-05:00 at 40% and 05:00-11:00 at 70% to give one example.

What would the ideal settings be, or let me rather ask what the reason for this? 100% makes sense to me as I have no panels yet. Are the different settings to conserve the battery, or what is the actual purpose of those slots?

Secondly, where would I actually set the priority, to use Eskom/Batteries/Panels first? On the Deye I found it quite quickly, on the Sunsynk, I can't seem to find it at all, or is it only when you have panels that you can set that?

As you said, 100% makes sense because of no panels.
If you have different tariffs for different hours of the day then you would set the battery to discharge during expensive periods and charge during cheap periods, but I'm not aware of places in South Africa where they do that except for maybe businesses but even then I think it's just different tariffs for different times of year and not day.

But until you you have panels there is no point in running down your battery because you still pay for the charging of it.

It's just you telling the system your preferred balance of either 1) saving on Eskom (lower %SOC) or 2) Conserving SOC (higher %SOC) at the expense of Eskom topup.
The timeslots just mean you can have different priorities at different times of the day.

In the case of 1) above, you will pay less for Eskom and use more battery but will have less battery available in the case of Eskom failure. In the case of 2) you will have 100% battery charge when Eskom goes down and will see a longer outage through.

2) is better when you don't have solar as you're not saving on Eskom when charging anyway. 1) is good if you expect the sun to shine at some point and you want to save on Eskom... Just let the solar charge the battery, but tell the system to not let it go below a certain state of charge after dark or when there are heavy clouds... Eskom makes sure it maintains the SOC specified. At night, for example, you might let it go down to 20 and no lower or 50 and no lower etc. Depending on whether you expect the following day to be sunny or not.

You actually decrease lifetime if you keep them at 100% all the time. But this only matters if we are talking months or more.

On the sunsynk there is a checkbox under system 2 called prioritise load, on system1 is where you set the grid prioritisation.

So as luck would have it, i am about to run out of units 5 left from the 30 they gave me on thursday. Now i cant buy more!

Does anyone know how to check if there is a system issue. Went to checkers and a local garage. both failed.
This was one of the reasons i never considered prepaid before.

Super frustrating.

Hopefully that means you are mostly off grid when your panels get installed.

Once you are cycling the batteries 100% is fine again its just not optimal to keep them in a 100% charge state for long periods. Also check your battery warantee some define how you need to cycle them.

If you have overspecced by that much then I agree you should drop to 80% as your baseline

Does anybody know what Grid Start % (under battery settings) is used for?

I see it on the web/app interface, but it doesn't even seem to be on the inverter's own interface.

I'm not following why the need for it to work with the inverter though? Gas geysers I've seen have a ignition battery and the gas, no electrical connections?

Today for a brief moment my panels exceeded the rated power. I knew this was possible, but I wanted to see why the SunSynk 5kW's 13A clipping didn't prevent that.

So it looks like the inverter did clip at 12.8A, but the panels were actually running at 267.5 / 6 = 44.6V. So the voltage was higher than the Vpm and therefore it produced 3373 / 6 = 562W for 555W panels. I guess that is why they want you to check VoC to make sure you don't go over the maximum voltage.

Just in case someone was interested.
 
Guys what is the battery spacing between batteries? Cant find the info now that i need it.
I know its 500mm from the inverter.
Battery spacing you can probably do very little if you consider rackmount batteries.
