No pics right now, but one of these, and two of these.

The resistor gets very hot, so either swop it for a 100W one, or fasten it tightly to the cabinet so that heat can dissipate. Some heatsink grease won't hurt either.

The 100W resistor - which ohm size ? 10 or 22 ? (I see the 50W one is 12 ohm)

12 Ohm should work fine, but it depends on the fans that you choose. I remember buying a few and fine-tuning it.

Ah, I see what you mean. Go for the 10 Ohm.

The temp module - at what temp does it turn on/off ?
No sucking (blowing up) to aid convection and they are not mounted, just super glued together and resting on the heatsink on some rubber grommets.
Temp setting is dependent on where you place the sensor. On the left the heatsink is a lot hotter than the right.
I think I have mine set to 40Deg on and 35Deg Off.
Need to tweak it so it isnt on when the inverter isnt under load.

No, to my cabinet. My 5K Sunsynk already has a fan (2019 vintage model).

If I were to add it to my Sunsynk, I would do blowing, from the bottom. Blowing is always better for me because it allows control over the air quality going in, via a filter. So minimum dust, no goggas and kids' prying fingers.

Ok so following on from my post a few days ago...

My installer told me at the time that the CT Coil is facing the grid. I did question it and I presume he read up a bit more on it. Today he changed it to face the inverter and now I have this weird issue where it looks like I am exporting to the grid, but this is supposed to be my household usage. To me, this just says that the coil was initially the correct way around. Can anyone confirm if this is indeed a CT coil issue or do I need to reset something after the change that he made?

Where is the physical CT coil located?

I've heard and seen installers install the CT inside the inverter.

The CT coil needs to be clamped on the live wire directly after the main feed into the house. It will measure the current flowing from the grid to the house. The inverter will then try and match this on order for it to zero the amount from the grid.

Also solar export should not be ticked unless you want to export to the grid.
 
I can almost guarantee that the CT coil is not installed at the correct location and probably inside the inverter.

You have to ask yourself, why would sunsynk provide a CT coil with 30m of wire only for it to be installed inside the inverter.

I've seen the wire wrapped and tied together and placed inside the inverter with the CT coil.

Worst case is that the installer cut the 30m cable to make it shorter to fit inside the inverter.

So my db was split to critical and non-critical loads. The physical coil is in the critical load inverter. I assume that it is taken from the mains and toward the inverter. Up until this morning it seemed to behave more or less okay. I can't help but wonder if it was actually facing the inverter and the installer got it wrong with which way he thought it's facing. He initially told me that it was facing the grid, but today changed it to face the inverter. Will the direction change cause this sort of issue though?

As for the solar export - I got those settings from this video - if you look at the 6:45 mark where he shows the settings to power the non critical loads via solar but not feed back to the grid.

The CT doesn't come with 30m of wire, it's about 4 or 5m.

So that's not right.

Solar export will export excess to the grid of batteries are full and loads are met.


Do you have a pic of your system flow chart.

This is a basic diagram of where the CT needs to be.

The only way to power loads before the inverter, ie non essential is to have the CT coil on the live immediately after the mains switch. 714484865.jpg

But that's why the "max sell power" option is set to 0, no? What settings should be used if I want to power both the critical and non-critical loads, but not send it out of my premises?

Regarding the flow chart, unfortunately I have no idea what mine looks like, but looking at your flow chart, I can definitely see why it would be a problem if the CT coil is placed on the essential DB side.
 
Mine came with 20m not 30m but it was not 5m.
Interesting, they must have changed it over time.
I've also seen videos where Keith says don't go past 15m if I remember correctly.
My db sits about 20m away from inverter, and after struggling to find ct's that were in spec and in stock to work over that distance, I bypassed my house db and ran additional grid cable to a new main db installed next to the inverter that then feeds to inverter and then all the way back to the house db with essentials and non essentials ie 60m of 16mm cable... was expensive way to get around issues with the CT
