That looks stable.
So next, we need to find out where the CT is installed. Is it as per @AchmatK diagram?

Edit: if so, then swop it around. You can also swop the two wires around on the inverter if it's less trouble and you are not afraid of an electrical shock.

The spinning meter helps in that we can see the direction that it rotates and there is no risk to a smart meter going into anti tamper mode.

The flow chart gives a better picture than the screenshot from the app.

At this point it looks like it's installed facing the wrong way.

Two ways to fix that.

1. Turn the physical CT coil
2. Swap the wires from the CT around inside the inverter.

Check what ports the CT wires are connected to on the inverter itself. I can't recall now where they should be connected on the 5kw sunsynk.

I think @RonSwanson & @AchmatK can start a "solar academy" to provide proper training for installers & end users. Alternatively a solar installer business that will be booked up months in advance!
TBH with Eskom's latest performance, I highly doubt that any installer is looking for work, all are fully booked for months, even the useless ones. This means that people need to be extra careful and vigilant before appointing anyone.
 
Does anyone have any really good document, videos, references to explain the Smart Load function in terms of physical setup, inverter setup, do's, don'ts, etc? I am not finding a hell of a lot online other than marketing type material although I haven't gone through the inverter manual as I generally do not RTFM.

Have booked my installation with Mike Thorne, looks like end of February is about when he'll be able to do it, but still need to get a confirmed date.

Going with 12 x 545W panels for my 8kW inverter + 2x5kWh battery setup. Wanted around 14 of these panels but looks like positiioning on the roof will be tricky with more than 12, but he said he'll bring 2 extras with on install day and see if things work out we can just add them.

I'm keen to know more about two 5s connected... Any caveats to going this route instead of upgrading mine to an 8? Seems like better value.
As per the training manual, up to 16 can be paralleled. All batteries must be connected in parallel (minimum cable size 50mm diameter), and the Grid and Load of each inverter must be in parallel. Aux/Gen cannot be paralleled, in fact the use of the AUX / Smart Load is discouraged, this is the only caveat that I am aware of. Oh yes, and each inverter needs a separate data logger.
