All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

Hoping someone can help. My sunsynk app on iOS only sends me a notification when the grid goes off, but it doesn’t notify when the grid comes back. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Um, I don't have my iPhone in front of me but I am sure I get both notifications, I'll check and revert back here.

Oof. This is honestly what I worry about the most with these strong winds, my panels still thankfully attached.

Did those blow completely off the main roof and destroy the afdak?
I'm not sure. Looks like the panels could have been on angled brackets (look at the left of the pic). With such a strong wind from the "wrong" direction, it just ripped the structure off. Went to check my panels earlier, but they look ok thank god. Mine are mounted "flat" on my tiled roof.

Mine are tilted and I live in Blouberg where it's windy like 300 days of the year. Think I might just do a roof inspection once a year and check on things. I'm also using clip-lock mounts, they might actually be stronger than using regular fasteners.

It's for wind like this that I'm glad I didn't question the number of brackets that my installer used. At the time I thought it was overkill, but surely not worth saving a couple hundred bucks on brackets, to risk your panel setup for these unusual weather events.

I have a couple just lying flat on my carport. 36 of them are securely bolted down. Just the last few I ran out of the mounting and never got to securing them. They've been like that now for just over 2 years. I think I should just get them secured before the next windy day.

I have the Android app and I only get the grid down notification. Thought that's all we get.

The only factor more or less under your control is voltage, which you can control by placing more panels in series, but if you are space-constrained, then this isn't great. It is always good to look at creative ways of fitting more panels in, as @Rouxenator has done quite successfully. Alternatives could also be constructing North-facing window awnings.

Another option to relook at the panel situation entirely, and find a set of panels that are better suited to the inverter's MPPT controller, those with higher voltage at lower amperage may allow the combining of a string in parallel that comes in at under 22A, and thus more efficient, because everything over that gets thrown away.

Alternatively, you could consider swopping the 8K Sunsynk for an 8 or 10K Solis, which, if I recall correctly, has a greater latitude in startup and maximum voltage, and could better suit your needs.
After spending a lot of moolah already, not in the market for getting another inverter haha.
I guess I'm wondering if the cost of an extra panel or the cost of an extra mounting structure for landscape is worth the bump in efficiency consdering the daily output I can get is enough to fill up my batteries in the morning easily.
Basically: don't worry about Panels/extra mounting and put that cost to a battery instead.

Just got mine installed today
8kW Deye
8x 465W JA Solar Panels
1X Deye 5kWh battery.
It has been 5 days since my system was installed and already CUD is hitting me. It reminds me of when I used to upgrade my PC every other month in my 20s. I have a feeling I will have 20kWh batteries and additional 8x panels by end of next year.

CUD? Constant Upgrade Disease?

Android does get both off and on. It just started working a few months back. Too lazy to go back and check when it started
So I've done google research and found the following thread on this:
https://powerforum.co.za/topic/17195-sunsynk-app-grid-notifications/

It seems to be due to one of two things:
1. Whether you log into system 1 or system 2. I log into system 2, so wondering where others log into.
2. The firmware on the inverters hasn't been updated. How do you check this?

Im on "region 1" when i login to sunsynk.net, which i assume is system 1.
I haven't done any firmware updates since I got my inverter around Sep/Oct 2022, so almost a full year.
If sunsynk pushed any updates it would not be at my request as I am the installer of my system.

Have you contacted your installer?
I dont get loadshedding unless it exceeds level 4, so i havent had any notifications for a week or so.

Morning all,
Trying to solve an issue for my Dad (70kms away from me).

Why would a Deyeness battery drop from SOC 53% to 0% in five minutes? No breakers tripped. At the moment he is in LS, so AC light is off. DC light is on but Normal light is off. Current SOC is 15% (as the sun comes up) but no power to the house.

5KW Deye Inverter & 6KW Deyeness Battery
