Yes, higher the temps the less effecient the panels will be but not to the degree you're seeing.

Do you have 2 strings in your setup? If so are you seeing similar output on them or is one generating less than the other?
Correct 2x strings and they output very equally

Shade perhaps, from a chimney or the like ?

Shade on just one cell on one panel can have a large impact.

With the season changing an obstacle that did not have an impact in winter or early spring might be a problem now.
When I was home I checked for this specifically, from what I could see from the ground all panels had full sun, I only have shade very early morning and very late afternoon with certain trees

Anyone have a trustworthy installer in JHB?

Need someone to swap out a blown Growatt at my parents place for a Deye. My installer blue-ticking me as I assume the labour isn’t worth the effort.
Did you get a guy? My guy has been doing this for a number of years - single man show, but knows what he is doing

Since last week Friday I don't get any more than 3800w from panels

10 x 550 panels
2 x B100 revov 5kva
1 x 8kw sunsynk

Use to easily see between 4 and 4.6 between 11am and 1 pm in middle of day

Also where does charge limits come from on 2nd screen? 160 for each field

Your batteries seems full, it starts dropping the charge output after 90%, so if your load is not consuming much; and batteries almost full - your production goes down.


This is the point where Grid feed would be useful - bad sadly :(

Have the pool heat pump running, and even when switching on geyser extra, or load is more, doesn't produce more, same thing today - nothing more than 3800

Past got well over 4000

Installer suggested mopping panels and take from there

I've set mine to charge at 60% of the rated continous charge (30A x3) and 86% (43A x3) of the rated continous discharge.

Do you actually see loads exceeding 3800W which then come from grid or battery?

It will come from batteries that time of day as batteries are above 40%, it is set to only charge from grid below 40%

This is a schedule I worked out over the last year, and it works perfectly for my Deye (there are four rotations within the loadshedding stages) Basically having to change to adhear to the loadshedding schedule once a week

Increase your charge rate to what you can and limit the grid charge so that you know if is not the setting limiting it.

Your batteries look like they can do 100A each max continous charge/discharge so this can theoretically be set to 200A but it depends on your setup and wiring, I would want it to be set to 100A charge if possible which should be safe if your installer used 110A discharge.

But honestly I woud not stress about the decrease at this stage, looking at some stats quick I am seeing a similar reduction in PV (as a percentage) in the past week or so.

I like to keep my MAINS breaker down when I am comfortable that the weather will not cause me to need some grid (the grid trickle usage irritates me and I prefer seeing my prepaid stay on the same number of credits for days/weeks).

It got me wondering, how much up and down can a MAINS breaker handle in its life? I am probably doing 1 down/up every week or so, sometimes longer between needing some grid juice.

Will the breaker handle this wear or am I asking for a premature failure in the future? I know you can get WIFI 63A main breakers but I am not going to go down that road.... yet!

Will 4 extra panels be a good option, seeing as in winter PV production will definately drop?
I just might commit some more money to my setup if I get a good deal.

Yes, if you can fit an extra 4 then do it. Panels are so cheap now you definitely won't regret it.

Winters can be brutal so every extra bit helps.

I have 10 panels installed. I find that on good days it is more than enough (Can produce 20 to 30 kWh). On bad days, I would need loads more panels. When it is overcast / winter in Cape Town, the yield is extremely low (say 4kWh), to the extent that solar is almost a waste of time.
It might be worth it is you can DIY... What would the total installed cost be for the extra 4 panels (including electrical and mounting hardware)?
