All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

I have 8KW Deye, 2x 5.12KW Dyness batteries, with 8 x 545W Jinko panels. For now it's doing the job. Actually exceeded my expectations and life is good with no LS.
Will 4 extra panels be a good option, seeing as in winter PV production will definately drop?
I just might commit some more money to my setup if I get a good deal.
similar system but I would probably go for 1 more battery if can afford it before more panels

I like to keep my MAINS breaker down when I am comfortable that the weather will not cause me to need some grid (the grid trickle usage irritates me and I prefer seeing my prepaid stay on the same number of credits for days/weeks).

It got me wondering, how much up and down can a MAINS breaker handle in its life? I am probably doing 1 down/up every week or so, sometimes longer between needing some grid juice.

Will the breaker handle this wear or am I asking for a premature failure in the future? I know you can get WIFI 63A main breakers but I am not going to go down that road.... yet!
Just switch the grid trickle fee off, set it to zero.
 
I have 10 panels installed. I find that on good days it is more than enough (Can produce 20 to 30 kWh). On bad days, I would need loads more panels. When it is overcast / winter in Cape Town, the yield is extremely low (say 4kWh), to the extent that solar is almost a waste of time.
It might be worth it is you can DIY... What would the total installed cost be for the extra 4 panels (including electrical and mounting hardware)?
I paid R10,000 for 4 panels and mounting kit, plus R2,500 for install 3 years ago.

I expect to pay about 12K for 4 more panels, that's if I can afford it anytime soon.

There was some info about storing energy in a second geyser, which comes in as a much cheaper option ito hardware cost, but then bloody plumbers are soo expensive.

Yep, there are obviously different levels of cloudy... I mean full-on overcast (and winter sun angle). Then yield is really bad. If you got 4kW out of 8 panels, then it definitely got some real sun.

IMHO, to have enough solar to cater for solar on very overcast days doesn't seem worth it. 20+ panels... then it is total overkill for 80% of the year.
 
Anyone know how to request or complete a software update on Sunsynk 8kw Inverter?
 
Just a heads-up, if you update your SolarAssistant to the new beta your battery discharge totals will probably get messed up. These totals are now reported as negative numbers so now my discharge total, which is a positive number, is getting subtracted from.

There was another update that should fix this

The response

"Apologies for not including this in our changelog. We added a new totals resampling tool that takes any of the 10 or 30 second monitoring data and rebuilds the totals with it."

The response also included this picture

Since the issue was solved I did not try to decipher what the response meant.

Have a similar setup.

Thinking about this now for a week. For winter my setup Was fine, but I am getting less monthly production with cloudy summer days than during the winter. I am thus thinking about another 8 panels. Then I can run the aircons during the day to use the excess power.

Thanks, that sorted my negative totals.
 
It's completely broken now :laugh: Not registering anything for battery discharge anymore.

Guess that's why it's beta software. I'll pop them an email and let them know.

If you run the Resample totals it will fix the issue

Also had 0 recorded for battery export then when i ran the resample it corrected the values for the erroneous days
