All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

I had a dongle which would light up and outwardly looked fine, but would connect and disconnect multiple times, resulting in extremely intermittent data on the one dongle whereas the other dongles (other inverters in parallel) had perfect stats right next to it. Sunsynk support asked me to try swapping the faulty dongle with another, the issue was sorted ie so the dongle definitely was at fault. Sunsynk replaced it free of charge.


The dongle can readily be swapped with any other as long as its on the same plant, the stats will populate correctly based on inverter serial number.
Thanks for the feedback. I will play around and see if I can make a plan, otherwise I will ask them to swap it out.

If I give it a static IP and keep their DNS then it stops reporting to Solarman, but still reports locally to Home Assistant.

Strange.
 
Just confirming that the ability to change logging intervals is officially gone?
I cant see it on the app or website and I know only 1 of them could see/change it.

Ultimately im just trying to check if I lost my unofficial installer status and im just a plain user now. Im planning to get a second inverter to parallel my current one, and just want to make sure that all is working ahead of time.

Any idea why the SOC of the batteries would drop suddenly from ~50% to ~10%? Over the past month we've noticed these drops around 09:00 without any excessive usage to account for it.

This is a Dye system with 30 kWh of battery storage so the drop doesn't make much sense at all.

This is a Dye system with 30 kWh of battery storage so the drop doesn't make much sense at all.

Likely out of balance cells or a faulty cell. Try charge to 100 and let them sit there for a while then see if the issue appears again. If it does then time to call in that warranty

As @Mzezman said, one of your batteries has flu.

When SOC drops, check the SOC lights on all of your batteries - you're going to find that at least 1 battery is flatter than the rest.

I had this on 1 of my Hubble AM-2's - sudden SOC drop. Stuck a wifi camera under all of the batteries and recorded things. Found the faulty battery and reported to my installer along with the footage and photo's.

Hubble replaced 1 swollen cell as well as the cell left and right of it to be safe. All good since.

Thanks. I suspected as much. The 2nd of 3 batteries were giving problems earlier. The SOC lights on it didn't show for a day, but was back to normal the next day. Will have the owners get the installer to come and have a look. I reckon it's that same battery that's giving the issue.

What batteries are you using?

The SOC drop seems to happen around the same time as PV production equals demand, somehow I don't think this is a coincidence.

You have a rather large demand between 6am and 7am (about an hour before the odd SOC drop), a struggling cell would also show up there but might not be obvious by looking at SOC (since SOC is determined by the BMS though counting coulombs in and out and not the battery volts)

Most BMSes would report the lowest SOC to the inverter during discharge and the opposite during charging (highest SOC), but this would result in the opposite compared to what you are seeing. Maybe the BMS in use here does the opposite which might explain the correlation between the timing of the SOC drop and production being the same as consumption.

It can also be that the master is reporting average SOC, which is probably the most plausible explenation as the average SOC can show a sudden drop like this, when, by example one of the batteries shut of completely (it one cell reaches the cell undervoltagr protect point) and contribute 0% SOC to the average. If you do not have access to the BMS data this will be visible by looking at the SOC lights as they will all turn off with a red warning light remains illuminated.

To troubleshoot accurately you need access to the BMS cell data.

It's 3 x 10kWh Volta batteries. The large demand between 6 - 7 AM is the geyser kicking in for an hour.

I also think that it's an average SOC which is displayed and that the one battery must reach a low enough SOC to the point where it switches off.

Try to join the solar Europe whatsapp community, where they have support groups for the various manufacturers, volta included. The staff of volta themselves will be on the group and check your logs and advise you further.
Deye for instance have staff doing firmware updates through out the day.

I think I'll leave it to the installer to figure out. It should still be very much under warranty.

Checked the battery lights this morning and the middle battery had only 1 bar showing, while the other were at 2 bars. Inverter showed 49% SOC. Shortly after that the SOC dropped to 20% (basically when it started charging from the solar again). Didn't notice a red light to indicate that the 1 battery had shut down. Not sure if the Volta batteries have such an indication.

Definitely looks like it's the middle battery that's wonky.

Yes, 10 minutes.

Has anyone experimented with the Sunsynk Connect Pro beta? Are those update intervals shorter / adjustable?
