All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

Saw something interesting in the graphs yesterday. The garage were my Sunsynk inverter is located got rather toasty and I think it derated my PV production at around 11:30 and again at around 12:30. Not a cloud in the sky and I can only think it was heat related on the AC side of the inverter.

Check your system AC and DC temps graph from yesterday - if you see peak temps during those times then you can confirm.

My inverter is in my window-less garage and we were out yesterday during 32 degree cloudless sun/heat - when we arrived back home the garage was like an oven and the inverter fans were going for it, but I never saw any clipping from the panels - I got a perfect generation boob yesterday.

When I am home, I leave the garage door open 100-200mm at the bottom to allow cool air to blow underneath and bring down the garage temp a bit.

Is it normal for solar installers who come to your place and give you a quote for a system to have the inverter / batteries / solar panels, so much more expensive than a solar shop advertising them? An inverter is like R10k more than online, solar panels double the price, batteries R8k more?

This is seriously irritating... this is on top of R50k installation with some materials and what what? and no that is not including all the solar panel rails etc

Is it just a Joburg thing or what do you all normally do.

I guess it depends on the installer. I think my materials came to R120k, the installer charged R30k for installation.

Gideon from BI Solutions is the only oke I would use if I lived up in your area - his installations that he documents on Tik Tok are top class and his pricing is spot on. WhatsApp him: https://wa.me/27829050773

I've heard some interesting scenarios including micro inverters just for a new array, then feed the genny port on the Sunsynk from that. All that said, I'd just add another inverter to increase solar input with Sunsynk / Deye. It's not too expensive and you're beefing up the output.
Or just add victron mppts direct to battery.

I am sure I said somewhere, there are alternative solutions like micro inverters, space is an issue with our current installation so another inverter isn't a solution although a bigger one might be. The flexibility of Victron can't be matched from what I have seen though, adding another MPPT is relatively easy compared to other inverter systems on the market.

Hi all,
The Webpage has this new button (which was off when I opened it this morning). I have a CT connected so I switched it on. It shows nothing coming from the grid, but my mains power is on. The app (Sunsynk connect) does show grid power coming in (17w as the battery hasn't reached minimum SOC). Should I have left it off, ignore it?

Hi all. System has been working perfectly for nearly 3 years. CT all correct. What I was saying is that the webpage has this new button and when I clicked it on, I got a success popup. I was worried that it was sending settings to the inverter. But the app seems to be showing the correct information. I am "assuming" that the webpage is broken and I shouldn't rely on it hehe. But we all know about assumptions...

I checked the inverter display, all normal.

I assume it is. I suspect the second pic has delayed data. Wouldn’t that be coming from the correctly orientated ct coil?
Maybe it was delayed (by about an hour), or they fixed something on the backend when it refreshed. All good now.

I think you just caught a snapshot where there might have been 0 power draw or its an old school gremlin as that happened often.
Where did you access that new webpage?

Morning. The webpage was the same as always (sunsynk.net). Just the button was added. As to the display, it seems a lot of people had the same issue in the morning (according to the FB feeds). It came right during the day though

I also have the new CT Connected button as well and I just enabled it. When my installation was originally done a number of years ago, I definitely confirmed with the installation team that a CT coil was installed correctly. Even though every now and then I have seen in the past, power being drawn from Eskom and power being sent to Eskom, though very small short spikes.

Does the Deye range of inverters come with wifi so I can see the usage etc on my phone or pc? or do I have to buy a dongle and connect it to the inverter?
