What would you suggest?

I am thinking Z2 or S5 but at the same time I am wondering if there is something else I am completely missing?

Also, I think Z2 is the better of the two options, what do you guys think?

Whatever I end up with I will miss my hdmi port...

If you want big phone, Z2.

If you want small phone, Z1 Compact.

I'm also eligible for an upgrade. Cannot decide whether or not I should stick to WP (currently have a Lumia 520), go back to Android (had a Google Nexus before the Lumia) or switch to iOS (have an iPad2 as my tablet).

If WP, then I'll get the Lumia 1020.

If iOS, then the iPhone 5S.

If android, then possibly have to decide between the Z1, Z1 compact or LG G2.

I decided on going with a Flagship android phone.

My options are S5, Z2 and the new HTC One.

Each of those have their own positives. I really want the one because of the build quality, and Sense is just so pretty. But the no brainer here is the S5.

I'd planned on making my own thread about this, listing the positives and negatives for each one in the hopes of helping myself come to a decision and seeing if there is anything else out there, but I've yet to get there :P

Definitely the Z2. Loving my Z1 so I'll definitely make the upgrade since I always get offers for my phone.

If you stay WP then the new 930 is probably a better bet than the 1020.

Prefer big, My hands and fingers are quite big and my current Xperia S is to small for me to type properly.

HTC One is another phone I will now be looking into, thanks :)

Yea, I felt the same due to my current XperiaS but my wife has an S4 and I quite like that as well so if it's between the two I guess whichever one hits the shelves first will end up winning for me.

The S5 should come first if I'm not mistaken. Rather wait until both are out to make a comparison.

Have they made any mention of price yet or are you pre-ordering blind? MTN has it at R489 on the MyChoice100 with a "free" 16GB microSD card, or on pre-order you got a Samsung wireless speaker "free". I submitted an application for the latter but have heard nothing yet. Would prefer a gear to a speaker though.

Gear costs about triple the price of the speaker.

Hence my final sentence... but the Vodacom contract could cost triple hence my first question :)

MTN said speakers for first 1000 orders. Vodacom makes no mention which also worries me a bit. First 10? First 100? First 1000? Or does everyone get told "sorry out of stock"...

Delivery date is estimated as the 12'th

Thanks. I see here (http://phonepricescompared.co.za/2014/04/samsung-galaxy-s5-price-in-south-africa/) that the Vodacom deal has 75 minutes airtime versus 100 minutes with MTN but it has 450MB data versus 300MB data. SMS is of little concern as even 100 are far too many. The extra 150MB data with MTN would be worth R20 (R40 for 300MB) whereas an extra 25 minutes airtime would be worth R35 (R70 for 50 minutes). So the pricing is actually much the same with both companies.

The choice would boil down to the "freebies", with the Gear being far more useful than the speakers. I seriously wonder about the number of Gears given though... it says stock limited and I fear it will not be many and that'd be the only reason I'd go with them. Without the Gear the MTN contract suits me better. I reckon most people will get the free S-covers with only a tiny few getting Gears. The problem is you won't know before committing :(

EDIT: As an aside, I see an extra GB of data with MTN would cost R90 so neither here nor there regarding the boost either.
