Alternative Cryptocurrencies (General Discussion & Trading)

For binance app on iOS you need to trust cert in Settings -> General -> profiles and device management.

It says as much on their site

Thanks! I didn't have time to look earlier. I'll try that. As long as I can have my 2FA, I'll be happy.

ETN ICO'ers
I'm waiting for a ridiculously optimistic $1 at which point I'll sell some and hold the rest.
Or at the very least wait a year and see what happens.
If I was mining I might sell sooner.

Anyone know anything about BitShares (BTS) ? https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitshares/

It is a blockchain that allows for decentralized exchanges, they have their own web and windows DEX platforms and CryptoBridge is also based on bitshares. They allow trading of conventional crypto currencies as well as market pegged assets (commodities/currencies such as Silver, USD and Chinese Yen etc.). Anybody can create an asset which is either for private use among limited shareholders or public, and the asset can be 'as is' or market pegged with a live pricefeed from eg. Bloomberg. Collateral in the form of BTS (Bitshares) must be provided and shorting mechanisms are in place (I don't think they have leveraging yet). Trading fees are also paid in BTS. Lifetime membership on their trading platforms (actually on the Bitshares network for any Bitshares based trading platform) gives you great discount int fees.

Their approach is decentralization on many levels, including DAC (Decentralized Autonomous Corporation) which can operate on their network.

They have recently achieved very high trading volumes, but many crypto currencies have low liquidity on it and as far as I can tell the trading volumes were mostly related to market pegged assets.

Currently their trading platforms are a bit confusing (until you get used to it).

Thanks for the detailed response. I just bought some

Aye,
But until then...keep and eye on the prices / charts and enjoy the ride :).

What would be considered a good volume to look for on the trending charts? A combination of price and circulation?

Is there anyway to to change the timeline on altcointrader for a coin, I can't see any way to change it past the default 24 hours? secondly any website that will give you the best exchange to use for a certain coin (XRP) returns wise, some exchanges have it around $2 while coinmarketcap lists it still over $3, so it must be getting that from somewhere.

Pick an exchange with good volume.
If the average price accross exchanges is around $2.65, don't worry too much about the outliers where it's $3.

That $3 price is usually either:

1.) In a weird trading pair (XRP/???)
2.) On an exchange with very low volume.

I don't like the concept behind a company running ripple with a CEO and value created out of thin air with them keeping X amount of it for themselves.

I didn't do all my homework when I bought ripple and I've already placed a stop order for all my coins if it drops even slightly. I would prefer losing out on gains now rather than have my coins vanish or become worthless based on the work of 1 person.

There's a ton of money to be made with new and emerging coins, but it's all too gamble-gamble for me or my skills in economics and tech.

Sticking to the following coins for now:

  • Bitcoin
  • Ethereum
  • Litecoin
  • Dogecoin (for the lulz)
  • Bytecoin (my only gamble since it costs nothing and has been climbing a bit)

Is etn still just trading at cryptopia? Any ETA on when it will trade on a reputable exchange?

A friend of mine wants to buy R5000 worth of coins as a start. Any suggestions for alt coins?
