It's just an editor.

It should spit out HTML like everything else. No Word required.

Apple Mail does it just fine...

Besides I recall Word was the editor some few versions ago.

For editing, I agree they could standarize. Regarding including HTML code in Email I have reservation, it is very unsafe. When you access dodgy Web site, it is your fault, but nobody wants active content in Email.
