Alternative to Plex on Fire TV

Hey guys,

I'm having mega issues with Plex on my Fire TV 2! MEGA issues!! When it starts up, it just gets stuck on the Plex Loading screen and nothing ever happens! If I uninstall the Plex app and then re-install it, then it works. But, once I go back to the home screen and go back into Plex, it stops working again!

So since the devs of Plex do not seem to care about this, I need a alternative program to Plex as I have loads of Movies on my PC that I would like to be able to watch on the TV through the Fire TV.

I don't want to root the device, so I'm looking for alternatives that don't involve rooting.

Kodi with PlexBMC. Works like a charm for me on the fire tv.

Ok, well Emby works great! But sadly I have to pay for it if I want to watch movies on it from 1st January. But I don't mind as it does what I need it to do and it does it well.
 
I use Kodi on my Fire TV and it's awesome. Prefer it over Plex at the moment.
 
WD TV live is a no go with Kodi though. OP. also having mega Plex issues.
 
So what are you guys using on Kodi? I tried PlexBMC doesn't seem to be working. So not sure what else to useuse?
 
What error are you getting with plexbmc? It's currently undergoing a rewrite so you might be using a beta.

Mine has been stable for almost a year.
 
Well that's the thing! There is no error! Just nothing shows up! There is nothing there! I'm using the Amber skin. Maybe another will work better?

I am using the latest beta as I installed it last night.
 
Please post a screens hot of your configuration for the plug-in. Have you gone into plex mode?

Interesting. What happens when you manually define the server? Also, what happens when you go into Kodi mode and back into plex mode? Does it say no server found?
 
Do you have any authentication or security enforcement on the plex server?
 
I wanted to try manual but I don't know what to put into the the different things?
