Am I being crazy for declining this offer?

I told Naspers to **** off twice before I got a proper offer.

You can too.

Once you are in you won't see major increases/promotions so best you get in as high as possible. Also they are notorious for retrenchments but that doesn't really matter too much for a contract I guess.

I actually saw this as an opportunity to up my salary so that after a year if they don't make me permanent I can find a job that will offer me higher than whatever I will be getting at that moment. But with what they are offering I'm practically staying where I am right now salary wise and that will be for a whole year.
 
Financially it makes no sense, not better of and it is temporary so you have that risk. Depending on your current company (size etc) career wise might be a good move but I would say push for a bit more, you have nothing to lose.
 
I would not go for a contract as a junior unless you are absolutely certain that you will be able to hold that contract. It's not even a question about possibly not getting an extension or perm offer after 12 months, but more a question that in the contract terms you will find that they can terminate with short notice and have no obligation to hold you for 12 months.

Yeah - it's a 500 bucks "decoder benefit" but I doubt that OP gets this as he will be on contract and does not get perks. At OP - does your contract cover leave/sick-leave or is this a freelance-contract?

:( this is the sad story called my life. I really want to get my own car and I know my mom can't wait for me to get my own place. It's hard to survive on what I get, but I get by

OP is a she and they are still to send me a contract. They just told me what they are offering.

The big question here is why the F do you have a 4k+ medical aid at 25. You should be in perfect health. I'm 28 and only pay 1k a month for a hospital plan which should cover all you need at your age.

Tell them to make a better offer.

They will always go lower than they can.

I'm a sickly being. Like in 2 weeks I'm having surgery done for gallbladder stones. Which scheme are you with, maybe it's time I look at changing medical aid schemes lol...

Change your medical aid or go for a lower option, you paying way too much.
I have a wife, 2 kids and I pay R1750
My company pays the other R2,600, and that comes to R4350

Your medical aid is raping you.
Ask for some medical aid advice on the forum
