Local Taxi in Tembisa is R8...
From Tembisa to JHB CBD is R20...
From JHB CBD to Roodepoort is R12/R12.50...
Then a taxi to Heldekruin from Roodepoort is R8...
So in total just going to work she will pay R50 rounded off...
 
Pay her the bloody R800 extra. Shes sacrificing a lot to come to your house and clean up your mess.

Far to many people think they are obliged to bend over backwards for the people they employ. This is simply not true. I could get fired today. So can everyone else.

The main reason I opted for a cleaning service is because I refuse to be taken hostage by the demands (implied or not) of someone working for me.
 
Why does she even have a set working time? Let her come and go as she please and play her to clean your house and not sit around and watch the clock.
 
what are the implications of an employer moving - surely same principle applies here, ie you would've entered negotiations in terms of the new location at the contracted work hours, if it isn't feasible in the work hours you would need to enter into retrenchment discussions?

The fact that she is so desperate to earn an income that she travels for this many hours, you'd need to make a different call... a personal one.
 
I'm with C4Cat on this one.

Its a bit unreasonable to expect her to come always on-time when she depends on taxi's who are notoriously late, and thats if she hasnt been in an accident or a shoot-out.

Our domestic usually arrives at 9 and leaves at 3. As long as she gets all the work done in time i'm ok paying her a full day for that.

Many consultants for example charge their travel time, she's a cleaning consultant :)

I was being completely serious. I don't have a problem with work hours but the BS of 'you have to be there by 7 or 8am irrespective of how far you have to travel is completely outdated. Unless you're responsible for opening a shop or something that specifically requires those hours, there is no need for stupid rules
