So I tried to order something on Amazon South Africa and got an email that the order got cancelled. I went on to their website and ask them to call me back. Couple of seconds later (literally) I spoked to Amazon support, them phoning me. English was 10/10. Attitude was 10/10. They even went out of their way to try help me solve the issue and check what options I have available in my area. Line and call quality was clear. The couple of seconds I had to wait for the support staff to find a solution, even the music they played was enjoyable. Also Cape Town accent, 10/10.

So for communication so far 10/10.

As more people use their service. Please post your Customer Support and after sales experience here.

This is excellent news, a proper human being on the other side and not some dumb AI crap press 1 for this, press 2 for that se moer stuff.

No, its nothing like that. He ordered a tv but they required a tv license.
 
TA are frustrating for lack of a call option. And if the tech you're dealing with ignores you it means you must raise more tickets until someone else takes pity on you. Very uncool. Double extra uncool.
 
I'm going to give a -5 points for packaging. One thing takealot wins on. My Asterix soft cover books from takealot were package in a box.

The amazon books came in a plastic bag which bent and damaged the corners of some of the books.

So 5/10 for packaging.

Thanks for the thread, good idea. It will be interesting to see if they sustain the good service. I hope they expand their product lines to the same stuff in the electronics components area as we can buy on the US Amazon at good non-ripoff pricing, ZA certainly needs it. I have a thing against buying cheap components you get at 5 for a dollar at R45 each here.

I don't think you can call Takealot just chucking books into a box proper packaging. Loot does proper packaging of books by wrapping them in bubble-wrap and then packaging them in a box. Now that's proper packaging.
 
Does anyone have a contact number for customer support? I need to ask them something and I can't find any link for online support / chat.
