just wanna confirm.. do i ignore that message and click continue, or must i do something else? thats for a kindle, the cover and a external hard drive and all 3 give the same message...

and i did select SA as the destination when u r busy chosing the kindle

Some items simply can not be shipped outside of the US for various reasons. Not much you can do about it if you are buying direct

Try with only the kindle, I know i got that error when combining the kindle with another item. I deleted everything, added the kindle under international order and was able to proceed to checout.

i tried now with only the kindle and the leather cover... which didnt work... gonna try again just the kindle...

ok, not even the kindle alone works.. even though its the international version and they ship it to SA... is there a trick when u put down your address?

What is the EXACT Amazon site you're using. Amazon.COM or Amazon.CO.UK . Amazon.COM ships here, not sure about .CO.UK . Also there is a stock constraint right now [holidays and all] , so there might be a delay, but they most definitely ship here from Amazon.COM

ok.... i changed the address from a PO box add to a street add... and now it accepts it.....

ok, got the address sorted.. but now it says 6-7 weeks for delivery... sigh.. means it will only get here end of jan...

thats strange. I ordered a Kindle3 from Amazon.com - dhl delivered within 5 days! - total cost was about 1.3k (kindle, shipping & prepaid duties)

i am getting the 3g version though... which costs 2.3k at the moment.. did u get the normal one naeem?

Got the same message on another item last night. It was something I've bought from Amazon before which was strange.

what id like to know is- how much does it cost(in Rands) to download a new crime/thriller novel etc one you get the kindle?
it would be much, much cheaper to join the local library and get your books from there.

You can't ship the Kindle to a PO Box addr - they ship it with couriers. I.e. they come to your house and deliver it, and you have to sign that you've received it.

The delivery delays mentioned here ARE correct; Amazon is apparently directing all its available stock to the US and UK Christmas markets. This has been the case for a couple of weeks now, though deliveries to SA used to take approx. 5 days.
The average price of a book from Amazon hovers around R70, depending on the title. There are of course plenty of cheaper and even free books around, if you're prepared to take the time to look.

That's a great plan seeing as how well-stocked and up to date libraries are these days.

Yeah and if you live in a somewhat 'verkrampte' area as I do (Rustenburg) heaps of the library books have had all the 'blasphemy' helpfully censored out by ballpoint by other readers determined to preserve the rest of us from hell and damnation.....
