AMD Phenom II X4 975

They need to start reducing process size. If it is just a speed bump then it's going to run hot indeed.

Ffs wtf amd , this is getting ridonkulous :p anyone who bought a 965 must be pretty mad right now

According to that report it's still a pipe dream, so it's marketing hype again. Kinda *** marketing hype considering the buggers have just released the 965 so now everyone is going to wait for the 975 instead and that in turn probably means we're going to see normal AMD pricing stay where it is.

i already have phenom II BE, so this does look promising.

It must be slightly annoying for people buying amd at the moment, cause every week they release a new one :D, just as you buy the 945 they released 955, the people buy the 955 and they released the dx 10 965, then you buy the 965 and they release the 975 LOL.

Doesn't matter. They're all the same thing anyway, just clocked higher.
3 days to go and hopefully I'll be a 955BE owner. It's going to be a nice step up from my current AthlonXP 3200+ Barton core. :D

A nice step up? That is going to be massive man!!!!!!!!

Wahaha! :D Let's see if the newer power churning CPUs can last 5-6 years of 24/7 running.

It's definitely going to be nice. Keep selling people new machines and my home PC is a AthlonXP. :D

Not sure yet if I should keep the Bartons, ASUS boards (2 identical setups), Stacker case, etc, or dismantle the machine. It's definitely time to clear out. I even think there's a 3GHZ P4 machine in the garage someone left here because the PSU died. Gumtree time!

wow, that is quite impressive AMD, however, I have concerns... Does this all mean that the only way AMD can compete with intel is via super high clocks??? Reminds me of those good old Pentium 4 days :).

AMD need something new, a band new architecture, AMD can keep up their current strategy of die shrinking, transistor adding and super high clocks. If things keep going the way they are, in a couple years we will be able to buy 6ghz cpu's.

At present AMD is far behind Intel. Their top desktop CPUs are more equivalent to the performance of Intel's previous generation.

Well yes that is true but you have to say their upgrade options are nice.

You can upgrade just the cpu which saves you some change :D.

Roux is busy writing his next Essay. He will be busy for the next 2 months.
