ANC backs return to coal

I mean if Germany can, why can't we?

That was the reason they used... just ignore the real reasons Germany did it though of course, and the fact that Germany could restart mothballed power stations easily.

The funny thing is, they actually shutdown fully working nuclear plants to unmothball coal plants? I mean it seems we can no longer call Germans logical.

These are people that engineer German cars so logical was not always their strong suit.

We can't build or capacitate, lets just keep the poor horse running.

Same mentality with blaming poor Jan.

Baby steps. Let's just push them to stick to it, then we can move on.

China and Russia are now building hundreds of new coal powered plants to ensure energy independence in the future. This is the only way. Solar and all other twat means nothing, not even as an addition. Any country focusing on green energy will end up like Europe, US and South Africa.

ftfy

And not all of Europe, Portugal is doing very well with renewables but they have a heavy investment in wind vs solar.

I have no problem with Nuclear. Tested and working. Unfortunately though, with AA and BEE, this is something I cannot trust the ANC with. I am still waiting for a big tragedy here in SA in the Cape and we are not far off.

Nuclear is not green. Close enough for my liking though, but you can't trust this country's bosses to be responsible with it.

The middle of an energy crisis is not the time to play with feel-good renewables.

Germany learnt that the hard way.

So did the UK, France, Netherlands and many others too. But the reality is, it isn't a good time before or after either. Much more cost-effective and cheaper to burn coal or run nuclear. Easy as that. The earth is not ending due to gasses and likely never will.

Offshore gas is the future answer, and cleaner than coal.

The problem with our powerplants is that they've been violating emission and particulate pollution standards for over 20 years.
